 THE ROLE OF TEACHERS IN CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION

PART 1. INTRODUCTION
 Curriculum implementation refers to the act of working out the plans and suggestionthat
have been made by curriculum specialist the subject experts in a classroom or school
setting. Teachers are the main curriculum implementers, while at the same time students,
parents, school administrators, can be directly involved in the implementation process.

 STAKEHOLDERS- are individuals or institutions that are interested in the curriculum.
They get involved in many different ways.
 CURRICULUM STAKEHOLDERS-
 Learners – are at the core of the curriculum.
 Teachers- are the curricularists.
 School Leaders /Administrators- are the curriculum mangers.
 Parents- are the significant school partners.
 Community- serve as the curriculumresource and learning environment.
 Others stakeholders- are the members of the school and largers community
such as local government officials.

ATTITUDES OF POLICY MAKERS


 Should no longer or assume that curriculum implementation is a process that
translates directly into classroom reality.
 Should identify, analyze and addresses any discrepancies between teachers opinions
and ideas offered for curriculum.
 Implementation is an interaction those who have created programme and those who
who are changed to deliver it.
 Generally views teachers are technicians and do not include them in the curriculum.
TEACHERS ROLE IN PLANNING THE CURRICULUM
 Teachers know their students better than other involved in the curriculum process.
 Teachers from multiple grade levels may collaborate to identify skills students need
a each level and ensure that the curriculum adequately prepares students to advance
to the next grade level.
TEACHERS ROLE IN THE CREATION OF THE CURRICULUM
 Ateachers can gauge an activity will fit into a specified time frame and engage
students .
 All teachers should be allowed to provide input during the creation stage
IMPLEMENTATION FROM THE TEACHERS
 Teachers must implement the curriculum in their own classroom sticking to the
plants that has taken so much time , careful planning and effort to create.
REFLECTIONS BY THE TEACHERS
 Reflection on the curriculum allows teachers and others involved in the process to
find any weakness in the curriculum, and attempt to make it better.

PART 3: CONCLUSION
 Curriculum implementation requires the input of different stakeholders such as
teachers, school heads , parents, community members, students , district
administrator and school boards . The role of the teachers involves defining different
course components that are considered relevant , in line with the latest technological
development in the education sector.
