I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learners demonstrate understanding of projectile motion, impulse and momentum, and
Standards conservation of linear momentum.
(Pamantayang
Pangnilalaman)
The learners shall be able to propose ways to enhance sorts related to projectile motion
C. Learning The learners should be able to relate impulse and (S9FE-IVb-36)
Competencies and momentum to collision of objects (e.g., vehicular
Code collision).(S9FE-IVb-36)
(Mga Kasanayan Specific Objectives:
sa Pagkatuto) Cognitive: Explain the law of conservation of
momentum.
Affective: Demonstrate cooperation in working with
others.
Psychomotor: Calculate problems on law of
conservation of momentum
II. CONTENT ) A. Topic: Law of conservation of momentum
B. Content:

Law of Conservation on Momentum

States that for a collision occurring between objects in an isolate system, the total momentum
of the object before collision is equal to the total momentum of the objects after the Collison.
that is, the momentum lost by the one object is equal to the momentum gained by the other
object.

Mathematically:
Mav1a + mbv1b =mav2a + mbv2b

IV.PROCEDURES Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

A. Check learner understands about impulse momentum
Review/Presenting relationship.
New Lesson TRUE or FALSE
1. If the momentum of an object changes, either the The learners will do the activity
mass or the velocity or both change.
2. When jumping from an elevated position down to
the ground, you should keep your legs stiff to decrease
the momentum.
3. A wrestler thrown to the floor should extend his
time hitting the mat by relaxing his muscles and
spreading the impulse to his foot, knee, hip, ribs, and
shoulder.
4. When a boxer gets punched, she should move her
head away from the punch to increase the contact time
and reduce the force.
5. A dropped dish is more likely to survive a fall on
carpet rather than concrete, because the softness of the
carpet leads to increased contact time.

B. Establishing a Situational analysis:

purpose of Lesson Newton’s Cradle and Collisions
(Note: Coins can be used as analternative Newton’s
Cradle)
What To Do There are five balls in a row suspended
from a frame. Pull a ball away from one end of the
row, and then release it so it collides with the four
stationary balls. Observe the results of the collision.
Try this again, but pull two balls away from one end
and release them together. Observe the results.
Try this again, but pull three balls away from one end
and release them together. Observe the results. Try this
again, but pull three balls away from one end and
release them together. Observe the results.
Ask the following questions
1. How does Newton’s Cradles related to the Third
Law of Motion (every action has an equal and opposite
reaction)?
2. When one ball collided with the other four balls how
many of the balls moved in response to the collision?
Why?

C. Presenting Ask the following questions
