SETIAP tahun puluhan ribu kemalangan jalan raya dicatatkan, terutama ketika musim perayaan yang bukan saja menyebabkan kehilangan
nyawa, malah turut menyebabkan kerugian harta benda, bayaran ganti rugi oleh syarikat insurans, siasatan polis, kes mahkamahn serta
tekanan emosi di kalangan mangsa. Sebahagian kemalangan itu boleh dielak jika semua pemandu mengambil langkah berjaga-jaga, termasuk
memastikan keadaan kenderaan sentiasa sempurna, terutama sebelum perjalanan jauh, mendapat rehat secukupnya sebelum memulakan
perjalanan, bersabar dan mematuhi peraturan lalu lintas. Kadang-kadang, hanya kerana mahu berjimat atau suka bertanggung, tidak menukar
tayar atau pad brek yang sudah haus menjadi punca kemalangan maut, menyebabkan kehilangan orang tersayang. Berikut ialah sedikit
panduan yang diharap dapat membantu pembaca menjadi pemandu berhemah.

* SENTIASA memakai tali pinggang keledar ketika memandu dan tegaskan penggunannya kepada penumpang.

* JANGAN memandu melebihi had kelajuan. Patuhi dan sentiasa kekalkan pemanduan pada had kelajuan dibenarkan dalam apa jua keadaan.

* SENTIASA kekalkan jarak selamat antara kereta dengan kenderaan hadapan. Jika memandu ketika hujan lebat, kekalkan lebih jarak antara
kereta dengan kenderaan di hadapan atau belakang.

* KETIKA memandu, kita tidak dapat menjangkakan ada pemandu lain yang melakukan kesilapan. Jangan bergantung kepada pengguna jalan
raya lain untuk memastikan keselamatan anda.

* JANGAN pandang secara tepat lampu kereta dari arah bertentangan kerana ia menyilaukan mata. Pandu lebih ke bahagian kanan dan
menjadikan garisan putih sebagai panduan sehingga kereta bertentangan berlalu.

* SENTIASA peka dan berhati-hati sebuah kereta membelok dengan tiba-tiba untuk mengelakkan lopak air atau lubang besar di jalan raya
atau mengelakkan kon pembahagi jalan atau kereta rosak.

* MEMANDU dalam keadaan cuaca buruk terutamanya ketika hujan lebat sangat sukar. Tayar kereta mungkin hilang kuasa tarikan pada
permukaan jalan basah. Pandulah kereta dengan perlahan jika jalan dipenuhi air.

* KETIKA memandu di lebuh raya, sentiasa berjaga-jaga kerana pemandu lain mengubah lorong dengan tiba-tiba untuk keluar.

* JANGAN biarkan emosi menguasai gaya pemanduan anda kerana ia menyebabkan keburukan dari kebaikan. Awasi tahap panas baran ketika
menggunakan jalan raya.

* ELAK memandu jika letih. Jika penat, berhenti dan keluar dari kereta seketika dan lakukan senaman ringan menyegarkan badan atau berhenti
menikmati secawan kopi yang pastinya membuatkan diri lebih segar dan peka.

* ANDA dinasihatkan memandu kenderaan diselenggara dengan baik. Periksa sistem penyejukan, brek, tahap cecair brek, tali sawat, tayar,
minyak enjin, lampu dan pengilap cermin sekurang-kurangnya sekali setiap minggu.

* PERHATIKAN kereta di hadapan selama 15 hingga 20 saat atau lebih untuk melihat dan menyedari sesuatu situasi merbahaya atau sebarang
masalah bagi mengelakkannya, supaya anda boleh menekan brek dengan pantas.

* JIKA anda ingin mengubah lorong, sentiasa pandang ke belakang menerusi cermin supaya mendapat kelegaan dan keyakinan berbuat
demikian.

* PERIKSA keadaan tayar kereta anda. Pastikan tekanan angin mencukupi dan corak bunga tayar masih ada untuk mendapat pemanduan serta
cengkaman baik. Ia menjamin keselamatan anda ketika di jalan raya terutama sekali sewaktu memandu dalam cuaca buruk.

* TEMPAT paling selamat untuk kanak-kanak ialah bahagian tengah tempat duduk belakang. Kanak-kanak yang berusia lima tahun ke bawah
haruslah ditempatkan dalam tempat duduk khas dan dipasangkan tali pinggang keselamatan.

About the Author

Professor Emeritus of Management at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), Dr. Robert Product Details
Mathis was born and raised in Texas. He received his BBA and MBA from Texas Tech University Hardcover: 592 pages
and his PhD in Management and Organization from the University of Colorado. Dr. Mathis has been Publisher: South-Western College Pub; 12
recognized for his instruction with the University's "Excellence3 in Teaching" award at UNO. edition (September 11, 2007)
Throughout the last 25 years, he has coauthored several books and has published numerous Language: English
articles covering a variety of topics. On the professional level, Dr. Mathis has held numerous ISBN-10: 0324542755
national offices in the Society for Human Resource Management and other professional ISBN-13: 978-0324542752
organizations. He also has served as president of the Human Resource Certification Institute Product Dimensions: 10 x 7.8 x 1 inches

department head in the Department of Management and Marketing. Dr. Jackson received the
university's highest teaching award and has been recognized for his work with two-way interactive
television for MBA students. Two Wyoming governors have appointed him to the Wyoming
Business Council and the Workforce Development Council. Dr. Jackson serves as president of
Silverwood Ranches, Inc.
