Getting To Know God

Bible Study

1. Hebrews 11:6 Says “ But without faith it is impossible to please him: For he that
cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him.

So we know that we need faith to please God but how do we get this “ Faith” ?

2. Romans 10:17 Says “ So then faith comet by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God”
Therefore the more we hear( through a preacher or otherwise) & study and read
God’s word the more our faith will increase and the more faith we will have to believe
and therefore please God.

Now you may say you don’t know if you have any faith but let us see what God says in
his word about man who he has created…….
3. Romans 12:3b Says “….God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

But their is still a problem that man has …..that is, He/She is sinful.

4.Romans 3:23 “ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

5. 1John 1: 10 “ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word
is not in us.”

What does God say in His word about wicked sinful men,…that is, what is His
attitude towards them?

6. Read Ezekiel 18: 21-23 verse 21 Says “ But if the wicked will turn from the sins
that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which …is right, he(or
she) shall surely live, he shall not die.

What does God say to people who recognize that they have or are in sin?

7. Isaiah 1: 18 “ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your
sins …….be red like crimson,they shall be as wool.

This is why God sent Jesus to die to provide a way that we can come back to Him
although we are sinful for he says He loves us with an everlasting Love
 8. Jeremiah 31: “Yea I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with
loving kindness have I drawn thee.”

This is why Jesus came to die for our sins….so that when we die we can live with
God and experience His everlasting Love for all eternity.

9.St. John 14: 2-3 “In my Fathers house there are many mansions……I go to
prepare a place for you that where I am there you may be also.”

And to prove that God loved us even before we could do anything right even before
we could clean up our act
10. Romans 5:8 “But commended his love toward us, in that , while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.” Read also 1Corinth 15;3-4

And why do we need Jesus to die for us?

11. Romans 6:23 “ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Now how do we become saved and receive this eternal life?

12. Romans 10:9-10 “ If thou wilt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe
in thine heart that God Hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

With the heart we believe and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Also God keeps His word, and what does he promise to those who confess their sins
to Him?
13. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

14.Acts 4:12Now God puts His word above himself and his word says that there is
none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved …

Now you may have questions about trusting God for a husband or wife or for your
education or for money….now what does God’s word say about this?
15.Matthew 6:33 “ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.”
16. Philippians 4:19 “ But my God shall supply all your need accrding to his riches in
glory by Christ Jesus.”
God also says that not a sparrow(bird) falls from the sky without him noticing and
tells us that we who are made in his image are more important to him than the birds and
the beautiful lilies he created.

What then should be our attitude toward God seeing how much he cares and has
provided for us?
17. Philippians 4:6 “ Be careful( anxious) for nothing but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests made known unto God.”

Now based on the final Scripture verse and the others mentioned we can begin a
relationship with God……
18.St.John 14:23 “ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my
words: and my Fater will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with
him.

This is Gods promise to us that if we seek him he will reveal himself to us….. and a
closing word in parting….the word of God says those who are ashamed to own God
before men on earth they will Christ be ashamed to own before his father in heaven.
