This week we are introducing the module 2 of the English, please! 1 student’s book1. The
main theme of this module is about aspects of life both in Colombia and around the world.
You will focus on the topics of daily routines and free-time activities such as dances, sports,
music, weather, celebrations and holidays.
1. Please go to page 46 of your and translate in your notebook the title of the module and the
text below the picture.
a. Do you know the names of some free time activities practiced in your town?
c. Do you know the names of celebrations and festivals around the world?
2.a. Now go to page 47 and look at the different types of activities that you will find in
Module 2 of your student’s book. These activities will help you improve your English language
skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Translate the activities in your notebook and send me a photograph.
2.b. On page 82 there is a self-assessment chart of the language skills that you are intended to
acquire at the end of the module.

3. Here is a Module 2 Unit 1 overview chart. Please look at it and compare with the contents in
your student’s book.
In Unit 1, there are three lessons on the theme ‘From day to day’. You will learn how to describe your daily routines
and free-time activities. By the end of the unit, you will be able to talk about yourself and your friends and family.
In this lesson, you learn expressions for daily routines and how to tell the time in different ways. The main language
focus is on the present simple form of some common verbs. The reading and listening texts provide useful models
for when you speak and write about your own daily routines.

4. Go to page 48 and work on exercise 1. The purpose of this activity is to introduce the lesson
topic of daily routines as well as revise language from the previous module.
Look at the five pictures and describe the people you see in as much detail as possible. Then, do
the matching activity (send me photos of this).
6. Exercise 3 is for listening. You will need to download the mp3 audio tracks from this link:

You will read the sentences before listening. Read the glossary and look for unknown words in
your dictionary or in www.wordreference.com
Play audio track 39, listen and write the letters of the sentences below the names.
7. Go to page 49 and look at the pictures in exercise 4. Now write Jose’s activities and times in
the correct order in your notebook.
8. In exercise 5 you will hear José talking about his daily activities. Please listen to audio track
40 and check your answers in exercise 4. Correct any mistakes.
9. Before doing exercise 6, look at the Useful expressions box. Make sure you can pronounce
the words quarter /ˈkwɔːtə/ and half /hɑːf/correctly. Notice that the letter l in half is silent.
Now, listen to audio track 41 and order the times.
10. In exercise 7 you will write the activities in exercise 4 in your notebook with the times that
you do them.
As an extra activity write more sentences about your daily routines using the activities in
exercise 3.
