1. Well Schematics
INTENTIONALY BLANK
2. Scope of Work
One 10K LQTG (one single gauge, tubing reading) are to be run in the each well.
Additional equipment supplied by either Pioneer affiliates and or third party
suppliers are going to be listed in the well schematic when the completion
program would be finished.
The bottom hole completion (tail pipe, packer, and required pup joints and at
least one joint of tubing will be run into the well prior to permanent gauge solid
gauge mandrel will be installed and torque into the string.
The gauge will be made up off-line and tested as per Pioneer Field Installation
Procedures.
Once the good gauge working conditions have been confirmed the gauge will be
installed on the single permanent gauge mandrel and powered on thru the slip
rotary connector that is part of the field installation spooler. This would be done
to monitor the gauge and cable integrity through the entire operation.
Once the gauge installation is done, XX joints of tubing (the number of joints are
going to be determined based on the setting depth) are run in the well on 3 1/2
tubing, with 3 1/2 iron cast clamps installed on each tubing connection in order to
protect the cable over the 3 1/2 tubing couplings as it enters into the well.
Additional XX joints of 3 1/2 tubing joints required between the solid gauge
mandrel and the SCSSV gauge would be run in the well until the Safety valve
will be added to the string.
Once the required tubing joints between the gauge and the SCSSV are run in
the well the SCSSV will be added and torque into the string. Once the SCSSV
installed, the required iron cast clamp guards and/or a single clamp (Cannon
style) depending on the SCSSV supplier would be installed in order to protect
the gauge permanent cable and the safety valve control line.
Additional XX joints of 3 1/2 tubing required between the SCSSV and the tubing
hanger would be installed into the string with 3 1/2 iron cast clamps installed on
each tubing connection in order to protect the cable and the control line over the
3 1/2 tubing couplings as the string enters into the well.
After the previous operation is finished, both cable and control lines would be
straitened, passed thru the tubing hanger fittings, and secured in place by
making up the fittings to the required torque.
Once the previous is finished, the tubing hanger would be landed and securred
in place for full well control.
4. Procedures
1. Spot a place on location that have a close power source, and set up
SmartWatcher acquisition system and connect it to the spooler thru the
rotary slip connector. Alternatively, a SmartWatcher portable could be used
for the installation.
2. Spot spooling unit on location and make sure that it is facing the rig side
without creating issues with the future, prepare collector assembly on
spooler shaft.
3. Inspect the Permanent downhole cable ends and make sure the caps were
properly sealing the ends in order to prevent water ingrease into the cable.
4. Using a jig saw remove XX-YY feet of cable from the outer end.
5. Calibrate the Encapsulation stripper blades using the gauge tool.
6. Using the Encapsulation stripper, remove XYZ“of encapsulation.
7. Once the Encapsulation has been removed, take a permanent marker and
draw a circular line on the tube at X” from the end on the cable.
8. Using a Swagelok cutter create a small groove on the tube where the X”
mark has been done.
Note: DO NOT ATTEMPT to cut the tube with the Swagelok cutter.
9. Once the circular groove has been performed around the cable tube, take a
triangular file and file the tube all the way around keeping at least a XX0 to
YY0 angle towards the encapsulation.
10. Remove the X” tube from the end and expose the cable wire.
11. Perform step 5 to 10 for the inner end of the cable.
Note: DO NOT THROW AWAY the cable seal ends installed from the factory, as you
will need them after the installation for sealing the ends of the remaining of the cable.
12. Run surface cable to the spooler unit and have it prepared for connection to
SmartWatcher acquisition system after the cable checks are finished.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure the GAUGE IS NOT CONNECTED to the cable at this point. The
operation will PERMANENTLY DAMAGE the GAUGE.
15. Continuity check: For the conductor check between conductor ends, which
should be approximately X.XX ohms/ XXXXft @ 20˚C. For armor ends
readings should be approximately YY ohms/ XXXXft @ 20˚C.
16. TDR check. This can be done before and after the gauge is connected to the
cable. The TDR will show you any weak points in the cable and give you an
indication of the cable manufacturing properties as well as connection to the
gauge integrity.
17. Prepare Standard single gauge Mandrel for installation into completion.
18. Once the tests are performed, use a jig saw to cut the X”outer end of the
downhole cable that was used for cable check tests.
19. Run the cable to through the sheave, and bring it down to the rig floor.
20. Make up LQAG gauge to end of downhole cable using gauge connection
procedures.
21. Calibrate the Encapsulation stripper blades using the gauge tool.
22. Using the Encapsulation stripper, remove VV“of encapsulation.
23. Once the Encapsulation has been removed, straighten the cable using PPS
tube straightener.
24. Once the cable has been straightened, take a permanent marker and draw a
circular line on the tube at X.HHX>XXX”.
25. Using a Swagelok cutter create a small groove on the tube where the
X.XXX” mark has been done.
Note: DO NOT ATTEMPT to XXX the tube with the Swagelok cutter.
26. Once the circular groove has been performed around the cable tube, take a
triangular file and file the tube all the way around keeping at least a XX0 to
YY0 angle towards the encapsulation (or the cable spool if no encapsulation
is used for that cable).
Note: DO NOT FILE the tube all the way, as this operation will damage the filler, thus
affecting the cable characteristics. The XX0 angle is very important for the new PPS
gauge cable heads, as they incorporate an internal o-ring for the metal seal pressure
test.
27. Snap and Remove the X.XXX” tube from the cable.
28. Repeat steps 22 to 24 for the mark at V.VV”.
29. Once the V.VV” tube has been removed, apply a small film of dielectric oil on
the tube, and load the cable head parts. Push slowly with partial rotation left
and right until the internal o-ring goes easily over the tube.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure tube CCCCCC did not leave any sharp edges as it will
PERMANENTLY DAMAGE the internal o-ring of the Pressure Testing Sub.
30. Using a permanent marker, draw a circular line on the filler at X.XX” from the
end on the tube or V.VV” from the cable end.
31. Perform a circular cut of the filler on that mark, and remove it. If it does not
pull out easily, perform two axial cuts at 1800 in order to weaken the filler.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure the cut does not touch the cable insulation as it will
PERMANENTLY DAMAGE IT.
32. Using a permanent marker, draw a circular line on the insulation at X.XX”
from the end on the tube or V.VV” from the cable end.
33. Perform a circular cut of the insulation on that mark, and remove it.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure the cut does not touch the copper wire as it will PERMANENTLY
DAMAGE IT.
34. Apply a small film of dielectric oil on the insulation and install the KenYY
connector rubber boot sliding it toward the filler until the end touches it.
35. Slide the KenYY Teflon sleeve barrel and push it onto the rubber boot
leaving out about X.XXX” to Y.YYY”.
36. Using a closed end crimping tool (set on XXAWG mark), crimp the KenYY
barrel to the copper wire.
37. Once the KenYY barrel is crimped, push the rubber boot toward it while
holding the end of the barrel and the cable.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure the cut does not touch the copper wire as it will PERMANENTLY
DAMAGE IT.
38. Connect the cable to the gauge KenYY pin and push the rubber boot until
the rubber boot internal groove snaps over the pin housing ring.
39. Apply a small film of o-ring grease over the gauge o-rings and, and apply a
small continuous film of SECRET over the thread of the gauge.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure that SECRET film does not touch the cone sealing, as it might affect
the sealing effectiveness.
WARNING
?
Note: Make sure that you (Intentionally Removed) completely out of the housing, as
failing to do so might damage the sealing when downhole temperature increases.
46. Once the pressure test was successfully completed, make up hand tight the
end sub.
47. Once the end sub has been tighten by hand, use a torque wrench to torque
the connection at SS lbs-ft (FF Nm) in order to energize the second pair of
Swagelok ferules (used for tension relief of the metal to metal seals).
48. Connect the inner end of the permanent downhole cable to the
SmartWatcher surface acquisition system, load the gauge coefficients file,
and perform a system check to verify the gauge readings.
49. Once good gauge operation has been confirmed, install the gauge on the
gauge mandrel.
1. Make up and run in the hole with one 3 1/2 mule shoe, 3 1/2 XN profile
landing nipple, 3 1/2 perforated pup joint, 3 1/2 X profile landing nipple, 9
5/8 packer (packer might require crossovers, top and bottom, depending of
the packer threads), 3 1/2 pup joint, 3 1/2 Standard Gauge Mandrel and
one 3 1/2 pup joint of tubing above the Standard Gauge Mandrel.
2. Lower the tail pipe and packer into the well until the Standard Gauge
Mandrel is accessible from the rig floor.
3. Orient the Standard Gauge Mandrel so that the gauge, once installed, will
face the spooler unit. The Standard Gauge Mandrel accommodates a
single LQAG gauge.
4. Install the installation JIG on the tubing above the mandrel using at least
two straps provided into the installation kit and secure the gauge into the
JIG.
5. Perform the gauge cable head installation according to the cable head
installation procedure detailed above at 4.2 (point 1 to 49)
6. Once the cable head has been installed and good gauge operation has
been confirmed, install the gauge on the mandrell.
7. Install one 3 1/2 clamp on the mandrel connection above the gauge and
secure it in place.
WARNING
Note: DO NOT APPLY (intentionally removed) on the permanent cable
? using the spooler for at least X joints as it could PERMANENTLY DAMAGE
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE GAUGE AND THE CABLE.
16. Continue installing the last XX joints of 3 1/2 tubing without applying cable
tension while installing 3 1/2 cable clamps over the tubing couplings.
Note: Monitor continuously the SCSSV control line pressure during running in
the hole.
17. Pick up the tubing hanger and torque it into the string.
18. Using a permanent marker made a mark on both permanent gauge cable
and the control line at the top of the tubing hanger.
19. Once the mark has been performed, stop the Smart Watcher and
disconnect it from the spooler surface cable.
20. Release the pressure from the control line allowing by opening the needle
valve.
21. Release the cable and the control line from both the permanent downhole
cable spooler and the control line spooler.
22. Using a tape measurement and a permanent marker measure an additional
VV feet (NN m) on the gauge cable above the mark at the top of the tubing
hanger and mark it.
23. Once the mark at XX feet has been done, cut the cable using a had
hacksaw.
Note: Make sure that someone is holding the permanent cable end that is
WARNING
?
going to the sheave during cutting as it will FLY OVER THE SHEEAVE
AND COME DOWN ON THE RIG FLOOR POSSIBLY HURTING THE RIG
PERSONELL.
24. Once the permanent cable has been cut roll it into a approximate X feet
circle.
25. Repeat steps 22 to 24 for the control line.
26. Once the previous step has been completed, pick up the string up until one
complete joint of tubing is above the rig floor.
27. Ask the driller to slowly run the string into the well while two people will
round tightly both the permanent cable and the control line around the
tubing joint.
28. Once the tubing hanger came about 6 feet above the rig floor, temporarily
install a 3 1/2 clamp over the cable and control line.
29. Once the clamp has been installed, lower the string until the tubing hanger
is +/- 4 feet above the rig floor.
30. Using the (intentionally removed), remove the encapsulation of the
permanent cable from the rig floor to the end of the cable.
31. Once the encapsulation has been removed, straighten the cable using the
(intentionally removed).
32. After the cable has been straightened, straighten the control line using the
(intentionally removed).
33. Slowly run the bottom tubing hanger fittings to both control line and
permanent cable.
34. Once the fittings are installed run both lines thru the tubing hanger while
adding the top tubing hanger fittings to the lines.
35. Torque both bottom and top fittings according to the tubing hanger
manufacturer procedures.
36. Once the fittings have been torque, roll clockwise both lines around the top
of the tubing hanger and the running joint, and secure them in place using
one or multiple strap(s).
37. After the lines have been secured, lower the string and land the tubing
hanger.
38. After the tubing hanger has been landed and secured in place, remove the
strap(s), and unroll the lines slowly.
39. Allow the rig crew to remove the landing joint.
40. Once landing joint has been removed, roll the lines clockwise two times
around the top of the tubing hanger, and run them thru the wellhead
penetrations.
41. Install the well head outlet over the permanent cable and start torque its
components according to Pioneer WHO Installation Procedures.
WARNING
?
Note: MAKE SURE THAT the cable is pushed back +/- 2" (about 5 cm) prior
to torque the lower sub Jam Nut as failing to do so will create a bear trap.
42. Once the WHO has been installed, perform the last TDR trace which will
became the starting point for all further analysis over the life of the well.
43. Connect the surface cable to the WHO and the SmartWatcher.
44. Power the system and start recording the gauge Data.
45. Allow the rig crew to install the production wellhead.
46. Prepare the well installation report.
