CONCLUSIONS

Upon the basis of the foregoing findings, the researchers conclude that the learning
problems of the N202 students in the hospital and community setting are noticed based upon
their own perception and experiences of learning, the compliance of which was conditioned by
the behavior of the students where coping strategies are applied as an advantage in the
curriculum.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Upon the basis of the findings and conclusions, the researchers give the following
recommendations:

1. The learning problems of the students should be as inspiration through means of

approachable clinical instructors acting as councilors for their students.
2. More optimism among clinical instructors should be offered to the students to
encourager them to improve their performances. The clinical instructors should point out
to them the benefits of the clinical experience and make it as an exciting event of
learning.
3. The clinical instructors along with the hospital staff should initiate a more approachable
and friendly environment conducive for learning. The staff nurses may be used for this
purpose. They should be participative in learning approaches since they have full
knowledge of the hospital experience in their past.
4. More cooperation and interest among the students should be possible to comprehend a
conductive approach in student-clinical instructor relationship professionally.
5. Future nursing students should accept the severity and consequences of the course
itself and its sanctions before proceeding in the curriculum. The student must
understand the terms and conditions and should take part in the learning process
professionally.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

Basing from the results of the respondents, most concerns are focused through
unapproachable staff nurses and uncooperative students. Merely 9 & 10 of the respondents are
affected by the indiscretions of the staff and the members itself and their coping strategies are
mainly are studying, staying focused, patience and improving socializing skills. The clinical
instructors are more particular to the preparation, understanding and deadlines in which they
seem to observe that students are not cooperative in terms of completion. Some clinical
instructors believed that reaching out on student difficulties would be a good strategy to benefit
both sides since the students finds it hard to cooperate maybe due to certain insecurities and
self-esteem issues, other students find the clinical instructors strict and unapproachable staff
nurses and watchers, few seem to observe that lack of time, expenses, and scarcity of
resources in the hospital and community to be the problem of learning. Other concerns instill
less effect but must still be considered to improve learning.

ABSTRACT

This study which was conducted at Liceo de Cagayan University, delved into the learning
problems and coping strategies among students. It is focused on the learning problems of
selected N202 students and clinical instructors as respondents. For which it aims to determine
the learning problems of the selected groups and their coping strategies towards attaining goals.

In answering these problems, the researchers used the descriptive design. The method was
further used to determine the relationship between the learning problems of the students and
their participation to their respective clinical instructors.

The analysis yielded to the following results: (1) The students is capable of solving the problems
independently. However, they find it hard to communicate due to unapproachable and strict
nurses and Clinical Instructors. They will need assistance and motivation from their handlers. (2)
The student-teacher relationship is instilled by both sides. However, they still have problems in
correlation due to insecurities and self-esteem issues, which is the cause of uncooperative
students. (4) Students more likely study to cope with the curriculum. Often, students are
stressed out due to distractions such as transportation problems, financial constraints, weather,
time, handler and staffs’ attitude towards the students, perverse and unfriendly relations from
the students themselves, confidence, and preparation. (5) The behavior of the respondents as
regards to the 8 M’s of learning was significantly correlated in terms of their problems and
constraints. The behavior of the respondents with regard to their coping was not significantly
correlated to the learning problems of the student respondents themselves. Thus, the students
have a tough time relating to their handlers or vise versa.

In conclusion, the learning problems among nursing students in the Related Learning
Experience is noticed and being resolved. The compliance of which is conditioned by the
behavior of the students separately.
