Contact customer to discuss the following:
- Establish delivery and installation dates (notify sales of confirmed dates)
- Update CSE when instrument is to be installed
- Determine what reagents and supplies are required
- Identify the primary operator(s) for training
- Discuss LIS connectivity (if necessary)
- Register customer for PEPconnect
- Provide access information for Document Library and confirm successful registration
to receive notifications for their instrument(s)
- Verify heparin type and levels in collection devices are consistent with our
recommendations (see Operator’s Guide – Collecting and Handling Patient Samples)
- Verify cleaning agent/wipes do not contain quaternary ammonium compounds
consistent with our recommendations (see Customer Bulletin CUST-00271-EDG)

o Stress heparin type and recommended amount of heparin (see Operator’s
Guide – Collecting and Handling Patient Samples)
- Review and deliver RAPIDPoint 500 FAQ Customer Bulletin and stress the
importance of running periodic blood samples on the system
- Review and deliver the current Customer Bulletin on cleaning/wipes and explain the
impact of incorrect wipes on Na interference (see CUST-00271-EDG)
- Review the sample handling website with the customer (access here)
- Demonstrate how to properly install the orange sample port and explain the

consequences if not installed fully and correctly
- Review the Operators’ Guide supplied as paper and CD and available in Document
Library
- Reference CLSI Guidelines GP44:A10 Procedures for the Handling and Processing of
Blood Specimens for Common Laboratory Tests, and C46-A2 Blood Gas and pH
Analysis and Related Measurements (https://clsi.org/)
- Confirm primary operator has been trained
- Introduce LifeNet and promote LifeNet registration. Leave instructions for LifeNet
registration. Global LifeNet registration can be accessed at LifeNet.siemens-
healthineers.com. 
- Advise customer that mandatory software updates for RP500e are customer
installable via LifeNet Anytime Software Update feature (beginning with software
release 5.1)
- Help customer identify one or more individuals who should be assigned LifeNet
role(s) to receive notifications of future software updates.
