Q: What happens if I select the on-site model for a student who is in a
self-contained program?
A: We will provide instruction and services on campus at the school site as per the current IEP.
There is a possibility that the typically assigned teacher might not be available to provide
instruction in the classroom. In this case, another qualified teacher might be physically present
in the classroom. We will have more information the week of August 3rd about which teachers
are available to provide instruction on campus. Our teachers will contact parents about
students who will be on their rosters before August 10th, the first day of online instruction.

Q: When will homebound services begin?

A: All teachers return to work on August 3, 2020 to prepare for the fall semester. A
representative from the homebound staff will contact you after this date. All students will
receive online or remote instruction beginning August 10th until it is safe for schools to open,
per Governor Ducey’s executive order. In-home services from a teacher for students who
currently have homebound instruction on their IEP will begin once schools are open for
students to return.

Q: If my child has received an evaluation from a licensed Psychologist

will my child have an IEP?
A: The next step would be to contact the school psychologist assigned to your child’s
school. The school psychologist will review the evaluation that you provide along with any data
from the school site to determine if a team meeting is necessary. Once the school team
determines if there is an educational disability that requires specially designed instruction, then
the school team would schedule a meeting to develop an IEP.

Q: Will all meetings be conducted via Zoom?

A: All meetings will be conducted via Zoom until further notice.

Q: Will staff provide IEP services online?

A: IEP services will be provided online or remotely until it is safe to do so on campus. Once
schools reopen, some services will be provided to preschool students and students in self-
contained programs on-campus. Students may receive special education services such as
resource support, counseling, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or sign
language through a teleconference platform.

Q: Will preschool special education services be provided online?

A: Preschool special education services such as speech therapy will be provided online until it is
safe to return to campus.

Q: What safety measures will be in place when a student is unable to
wear a mask?
A: Some students will be exempt from wearing a mask per their individual needs and/or age. If
a student is unable to wear a mask, school staff will communicate with the parent or guardian
by conducting daily wellness checks before a student enters the classroom. Students might be
able to wear a face shield. School staff may also check the temperature of a student who is not
wearing a mask. Students will participate in physical distancing when possible. All adults on
campus will wear face coverings.

Q: Will a student be on a device during the entire duration of a school

day?
A: Students will not be on devices for the entire school day. Students will follow a daily
schedule that will include a combination of online and independent offline assignments. The
amount of online instruction and assignments will depend on the student’s grade level and
ability to benefit from them. Each teacher will assist with making recommendations for the
portion of a school day that a student should spend on a device.

Q: How will students receive resource service?

A: Students will receive special education resource services online.

Q: What personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available for self-

contained classrooms?
A: Staff will follow CDC guidelines for wearing face coverings and they will have access to a
variety of masks and face shields. Staff will have access to PPE including face coverings, gloves,
disinfectant, soap, and sanitizer. Classrooms will participate in frequent handwashing.
Students and staff will have workstations 6 feet apart. Some tables and desks will also have
shields available as an additional layer of protection during the provision of specific services.
