INTRODUCTION

Soccer Betting is generally done by two types of punters: Those who bet
to win and those who bet for fun.

Whatever kind one you are, the ultimate goal is to beat your bookie.
Although soccer is very unpredictable (that is what makes soccer betting all
the more tempting), certain guidelines can be followed to increase your
chances of winning.

The first rule is to be very clear and confident about how to bet and what
to bet. Always take into consideration the following points before betting on
a team:

Team Form:
Always check the form and recent performances of the team. If available,
read the recent match reports to see if the team was unlucky because of
opposition goalkeeper having a great day etc.

Home and Away Records:

Check for home and away statistics. Some teams play better at home
ground, some play better away.

Head-to-head:
Check the history between the two clubs because in soccer, more often
than not, the history repeats in year after year.

Team news:
Be sure always to check for injuries and suspensions. Which players are
missing and how important are they. Check the records of the players who
are replacing the injured players.

Motivation:
Check for the team motivation and how important it is for them to win the
game. Do they really need points, are they interested in the domestic cup
and so on.

Schedule:
Check whether the team has had a tight schedule and if they could possibly
be tired. Whether the last game they played demoralizing or whether the
next game they are going to play more important than the current one.

And also follow these simple guidelines for successful betting:

 Bet only what you can afford.

 Define a staking system and stick to it.
 Do not bet on teams or leagues that you don't know anything about.
 Do not be over-confident because soccer is full of unpredictability.
 In general, stick to betting on league matches, as recent team form
is only consistent within the boundaries of that league.
 Do not bet at the beginning of the season. This is important to

go. Major improvement or decline from season to season is commonplace

Bet on motivated teams

play well above what is indicated by their overall record - especially in
critical games?

Determine how important a game is to a team. If the team has already

reached a play-off spot, they may be more focused on the play-offs than

relegation may be highly motivated. A team out to avenge a defeat earlier
in the season may also be very motivated.

Don't chase your losses

When you do run into the inevitable losing streak, don't panic and make

your betting amounts until you start winning again. Remember - chasing
your losses is the single biggest mistake a punter can make. Once you
start winning again, increase your bets slightly, but don't go overboard.
Unfortunately, like losing streaks, winning streaks also come to an end.

Bet with your head, not your heart

Make an honest assessment of a team's chances, not one based on
emotions. Don't bet on a team simply because it's your favorite without
considering the real odds. Be selective and remember that you will only find
value betting situations in a small number of games. Betting the entire
Premier League fixture list every week is a risky proposition at best.

Successful football betting requires getting value on your bets.

Basically this means getting better than the "tue" odds on your picks. For

instance, if your objective prediction for a game suggests that Arsenal

should have fair odds of 1.30, but bookies offer them at 1.50 then this is a
value-betting proposition. In this case, the risk to reward ratio is very much
in your favour, making Arsenal a strong play.

Bet against public opinion

certain teams always have a strong public following. For example Chelsea
or Man United are such teams. High-value bets can often be found by
betting against these teams because the bookmakers adjust their odds to
reflect the expected amount of public money. Thus, the underdog is often
listed with better odds than they realistically deserve.

Stay abreast of injuries

Watch the injuries, but don't overreact to them. Judge the importance of
an injured player and the quality of his substitute. Remember that second-
string players are often highly qualified and are especially motivated when
replacing a starter, so it often pays to bet on a team missing its best player.
The public normally overreacts to injuries so you may find good value in
this situation. However, beware of situations where there is more than one
injured key player or there is an injury to the team's captain or inspirational
leader.

I'm writing this to tell you about a money management strategy which I
developed and has worked great for me ...

So, I start with a £600 betting bank (for example) which I divide into 3
smaller sub-accounts of £200 each. I leave 2 of the sub-accounts aside
and start betting with only one of those sub-accounts. I bet with those £200
until I reach £400 (double my sub-account) if I manage to reach £400 I
move £200 into the other 2 sub-accounts creating 2 side-sub-accounts of
£300 each (matching my initial bank) and I continue betting with the rest
of the money (£200) which I had left in the 3rd sub-account.

If I happen to lose the initial £200 from the first sub account I split the
remaining £400 into 3 sub-acounts of around £130 each and only start
betting with one of them until I reach £400 again and so on.

I only bet on 2 or 3 (max. 4) games per slip with average odds of 2.30 and
stake 1/6 of my sub-account (if I have £200 I stake around £30 per slip)

Most importantly you should NEVER neglect the rules above and I
guarantee you that after one month of using this money management
strategy your balance will be a lot higher.

Most of the time when I bet I use a strategy called 10 percent strategy,
which means that with each loss I increase my stake by 10% rounded to
the nearest non-zero bet unit and with each win I decrease my stake by
10%. After I have broken even, then with each extra win, I return half back
to the lowest bet.

It is pretty easy to use and it works very well. You've probably heard about
this system before but I've added some improvements to it.

BETTING STRATEGIES

STRATEGY 1: value-strategy

Use a good source which shows you the probabilities (percentage-

distribution) of results on the basis of good statistics.

Then you take the current odds of your favorite’s bookie (that's the one
where you have got the most money in the betting account.

Then you have to compare the statistical percentages with the current
odds. Decimal odds can be simply converted into percentages by dividing
1 by the odds (e.g. 1 / 1.5 = 0.666 = 67%)

Example:
Arsenal Chelsea 27 39 34
Odds on Chelsea at e.g. nairabet are
2.40 1 / 2.40 = 0.416 --> meaning 42%
Gives you a difference of 42% - 34% = 8%

Then you can stake those 8% according to the Kelly-strategy. Stake

according to Kelly amounts to: budget (e.g. £500) multiplied by 1/10th of
the valuation (here 8% thus 0.08) divided by the decimal odds minus 1
(here 2.40 - 1 = 1.40)

Thus, at our match 40 divided by 1.40 = a £28.57 stake

The Kelly-strategy has the advantage that the stake is calculated on the
basis of probabilities and your currently available budget.

STRATEGY 2: over/under 2.5 goals in football matches

I play on over/under 2.5 goals in football matches like this:

I take into consideration the last 4 matches of each team involved in the
current game (that's 8 matches in total).

If a game has ended with an over 2.5 score I give it +0.5 points.
If both teams scored in that match I give it another +0.75 points (even if
the match ended under 2.5).
If the game ended under 2.5 I give it -0.5 points.
If one of the teams didn't score in the match (even if it was over 2.5) I give
it -0.75 points.

In the end I sum up all those points and I get a positive or negative result.
To give an example:

match results 4:2 2:1 2:2 0:0 2:0 2:1 3:1 3:0

For the above matches my calculation would look like this:

+0.5 +0.75 +0.5 +0.75 +0.5 +0.75 -0.5 -0.75 -0.5 -0.75 +0.5 +0.75 +0.5
+0.75+ 0.5- 0.75 =+3.5 points.

That would mean to put a 3.5/10 units bet on over 2.5 goals. The
maximum results are +10 and -10 points. That would mean a certain over
2.5, respectively under 2.5 goals match.

I usually place a bet only if I get a minimum +/-5 points result. So,
for example, if I get a +6 I place a 6/10 units bet on over 2.5 goals.
