Chapter 3 Getting Started

3.1 Installation for Main unit

1) Acclimation Time
After being transported, the unit requires one hour for each 2.5 ºincrement if its
temperature is below 10 ºC or above 40 ºC.

NOTE:
Please keep at least 20 to 30 cm spare space away from the back of the system to ensure
well ventilation. Otherwise, with the increasing of the temperature inside the unit,
malfunction may occur.
2) Connecting and Using the System
To connect the system to the electrical supply:
 Check the power voltage input labeling at rear panel of the system.
 Ensure that the wall outlet is of the appropriate type and well grounded.
 Ensure that the system powers off.
 Unwrap the power cable, and allow sufficient slack in the cable so that the plug will
not be pulled out of the wall outlet if the system is moved slightly.
 Attach the power plug to the system and secure it in place by using the retaining
clamp.
 Push the power plug securely into the wall outlet.

CAUTION
 Use caution to ensure that the power cable does not disconnect during system use.
 If the system is accidently unplugged, data may be lost.

WARNING
 To avoid risk of fire, the system power must be supplied from a separate, properly
rated outlet.
 Under no circumstances should the AC power plug be altered, changed, or adapted
to a configuration rated less than specified. Never use an extension cord or adapter
plug.
 To help assure grounding reliability, connect to a “hospital grade” or “hospital only”
grounded power outlet.

Chapter 5 Software Upgrade

5.1 About the System Software

The ultrasound system contains software that controls its operation. Typically new software
provides new capabilities, CHISON will provide the software upgrade service for lifetime.

A single Flash disk can be used to upgrade one or more systems, and software upgrade use the
USB port on the left hand side of the system.

Upgrades provided may be required or optional. Normally, we don’t suggest the owner upgrade the
system if not necessary, because there has risk cause the system corrupt by incorrect operation or
power failure.

- 56 -

5.2 Instruction for upgrade

1) Please contact with Chison Service Dept get the newest upgrade package, including two files:
fpga.ZIP and upgrade.ZIP

2) Unzip them, you will get two folders as below; upgrade folder and fpga folder, copy them to
the root of U disk.

- 57 -

7) The system will restart when you confirm “OK” after upgrade successed.

Note: The upgrade procedure is not finshed after you upgrade the software, you have
to upgrade the FPGA to work with the software.

8) Please go to “System” interface again and click the item “FW upgrade” to upgrade, then the
system will upgrade automatically after you confirm “YES”.

Note: The whole procedure is about 16 minutes.

9) The unit will turn off when you confirm “OK” after upgrading is successful.

10) Please check the system information after the whole upgrade procedure.

Possible causing for upgrade failure:

1) .Pls confirm the U disk is a good one, or you may try with another U disk.
2).The volume for U disk (2GB is the best), too small or too big volume is not easy for machine to
recognize.
3) .Never unplug the U disk during upgrade process.
4) .Please confirm there will be subfiles once you open the upgrade folder or fpga folder.
5). The upgrade package is damaged during the download procedure, you can try to download
again.
6). Please check the system information, whether you forget upgrade software or fpga

6.3 Maintenance

It is necessary to maintain the system regularly, as it can ensure the system being operated under
safe state by eliminating possible trouble, and it can shorten the checking and repair period, lower
the service costs and reduce the operation danger.

6.3.1 Host Clean

Caution:

Before clean any part of the system, please make sure that the system is turned off and the
power cable is disconnected from the power supply socket. Otherwise there will be danger of
electricity shock.
Cleaning method:
Please use a piece of soft and dry cloth to clean the system. If there’s some dirty difficult to be
cleaned, please use wet cloth to clean system, and then use dry cloth to wipe off the water on
the system.

Caution:

1. Please don’t use organic solvent to clean; otherwise it will damage the exterior paint.
2. Please never allow any liquid get inside the system, otherwise it will damage the system and
cause electronic short.
If the probe connector and any peripheral device are required to be cleaned, please contact our
authorized agent in your country in advance. Any cleaning by unauthorized person may result
in system malfunction or affect its features.

6.3.2 Probe maintenance

According to the purposes, the probes of this system can be divided into 2 categories: those
used on the surface of patient body, or those used inside the body of patient.

Caution:

No matter which type of examination is performed, please always try to reduce the
unnecessary radiation of ultrasound wave to the patient during the ultrasound examination

Caution:

1. Probe can only be used by professional doctor who has received professional training of
ultrasound.
2. It is forbidden to sterilize and disinfect probe by high pressure. If it needs to be used in
sterilized occasion, please use a sterilized disposable probe cover on the probe.
3. Please avoid drop off or hitting the probe by anything.
4. Don’t scratch the probe surface while using it.
5. Please use the authorized ultrasound gel during scanning. Using un-authorized gel may
cause scratch or damage to probe surface.
6. Don’t bend or pull the probe cable with force.
7. Please don’t put the probe connector and its adjacent probe cable part into any liquid.
8. Please keep the probe clean and dry.
9. Please connect or disconnect the probe after the system is turned off or freeze the image.
10. Please don’t use or preserve the probe where it is over 50℃.
11. Please carefully check the probe surface, probe cable and probe connector before using. If
there is any abnormal phenomenon (e.g. there’s a leakage on the probe surface), please
stop using the probe immediately and contact our authorized agent in your country as
soon as possible. If you don’t know the contact number of your authorized agent, please
contact us by detail contact information at the end of this chapter.

Note:

For surface probe, it shouldn’t be immersed in the liquid deeper than the acoustic lens. For
transvaginal probe, it shouldn’t be deeper than the insertion region. It is strictly prohibited to
let probe connected plug into any liquid

6.3.3 Disinfection

Disinfection is applicable to transvaginal probe.

If required in the operation of using the probe, please follow the guidance of personnel to
disinfect the probe.
Disinfection procedures
1. Clean the probe thoroughly according to the procedure prescribed.
2. Prepare the glutaraldehyde solution (concentration is 2%) as the disinfection solution
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Put the probe into the liquid, the depth shouldn’t be deeper than the acoustic lens. It is
strictly prohibited to let probe connected plug into any liquid
4. Immersion probe for 3 hours
5. After removing the probe, clean it with sterile water or sterile saline immediately. In order
to ensure that there is no solution residue must perform manufacturer rinsing procedures
strictly according to the provisions, including adequate rinsing with water and rinse times.
6. If it needs to be used in sterilized occasion, please use a sterilized disposable probe cover
on the probe.

Note:

1. It is strictly prohibited to let probe connected plug into any liquid.

2. For transvaginal probe, it shouldn’t be immersed in the liquid deeper than the insertion
region.
