OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, the students should be
able to:
a. Define the meaning of animation
b. Identify the types of animation
c. Enumerate the examples and the process of animation

1 Good Day!
I’m teacher Ervony and I will be your teacher for your subject
GUIDE CARD Information And Communication Technology (Animation NC II).

This will be your first topics for the first week for Quarter 1.
I hope you are okay!

2
Good Day Sir!
Yes Sir, I’m okay and I’m ready for our
lesson.

Let us first define Introduction to Animation-Animation is a process where pictures and images
are shown in a rapid order or sequence to create the illusion of movement. These pictures and
images can be hand drawn, made on a computer, or photographs of 3D objects.
 Animation is the creation of the “illusion of the movement” using a series of still images
There are 3 Types Of Animation. These are;
1. Hand Drawn Animation
2. Stop Motion Animation
3. Computer Animation
And our main objective here is to know about the fields of Hand drawn Animation, Stop Motion
Animation and Computer Animation.
Please read and understand the given term below.

Definitions of terms

 Hand Drawn /Traditional animation - is

an animation technique in which each frame
is drawn by hand. The technique was the dominant
form of animation in cinema until the advent
of computer animation.

 Stop Motion Animation -is

an animated filmmaking technique in which objects
are physically manipulated in small increments
between individually photographed frames so that
they will appear to exhibit independent motion or
change when the series of frames is played back

 Computer animation is the process used for digitally

generating animated images. The more general
term computer-generated imagery (CGI)
encompasses both static scenes and dynamic
images, while computer animation only refers to
moving images. Modern computer animation usually
uses 3D computer graphics, although 2D computer
graphics are still used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and
faster real-time renderings. Sometimes, the target of
the animation is the computer itself, but
sometimes film as well.

Aims of Hand drawn Animation, Stop Motion Animation , Computer Animation

1. Aim’s Hand drawn animation

 The animator draws some frames on cellulose sheets designed for drawing, then these cels are laid over other
ones to be photographed.
 Computers now facilitate this animation process, making the traditional cel drawing process nearly obsolete by
the beginning of the 21st century.
 Special computer software has made it possible for drawings to be directly drawn or scanned into the computer
system
 Computers have also lowered the costs of the animation process by eliminating the need for materials like
acetate sheets and inks.

2. Aim’s Stop motion animation

 Can be done by virtually anyone, with no extensive training
 Does not take that much time relative to the other 2 methods
 Uses jointed figures or clay figures that can be moved to make motions
3. Aim’s Computer Animation

 A storyboard is a series of sketches that can be 7

used as a guide for making a film or video These are the Aims of Hand drawn Animation, Stop
 It contains the action and dialogue of the film motion Animation, Computer Animation.
 Can also include the music, narration, special
effects information etc. for the person to guide them
in creating the film

Can you define now hand drawn animation, stop

motion animation , computer animation?
8

Yes Sir! Thank you so much

10
9
You’re Welcome!

Now, Let us talk about the introduction of

animation
11

Yes Sir!
Introduction to Animation:
12 Animations can be created in many forms including hand or
computer drawn animations, or with computer software and media.
Many devices support animation including iPads, iPhones, tablets,
chromebooks and computers.  There are many types of animations
from a , , video tape, or , including formats such as ,  or digital
video.

Sir!
Hand drawn Animation / Stop Motion Animation;
Hand drawn / Traditional animation - also known as cel animation, or hand-drawn animation, is
an animation technique where each frame of the film is drawn by hand, and was - until the arrival
of computer animation - the dominant form used in cinema.
Hand drawn animation – is an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand. Hand
drawn animation is just like other forms of animation , that usually start by creating a storyboard ,
which is a script of sorts written with images as well as words. The images allow the animation
team to plan the flow of the plot and the composition of the imaginary.
Stop motion animation – is a kind of object can thus be animated, but puppets with movable
joints (puppet animation) or plasticine figures ( or claymation) are most commonly used.
Puppets, models or clay figures built around an  are used in . Stop motion with live actors is
often referred to as . Stop motion of flat materials such as paper, fabrics or photographs is
usually called cutout animation.

13
Sir! 14
Computer Animation;
usually uses , although  are still used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and faster .
Sometimes, the target of the animation is the computer itself, but sometimes  as well.
Is essentially a digital successor to  techniques, but using 3D models, and  techniques
using frame-by-frame animation of 2D illustrations

15
Great!

That was the end of our discussion about the introduction to

animation , aims of hand drawn animation , stop motion
animation , computer animation.

Are you ready now for the activity?

16

Yes Sir! We are ready!

LOOK! LOOK!

Activity #1. Completion Type

Activity #2. Extend your Knowledge

Direction: Answer the entire question below to enhance and extend your knowledge in our topic or in your subject. Use
the answer sheet provided at the next pages of this module. Copy and Answer.

1. Why do you think this subject/ course is offered to senior high school students? give five (5) main reasons.
2. Animation is useful anytime and anywhere. Do you Agree or Disagree? Why?
Enrichment

For single Students: If you plan to become future animator in the animation world, where do you want to
work and whose the person you want to work with? (in the same neighbourhood, in the same barangay of
the same town or city, in another province, country , region, or island) support your answer. Use the answer
sheet provided at the next pages of this module. Copy and Answer.
