SECOND FORUM FOR ADVACE

 MORE PRECIOUS THAN OIL

One out of every six people on earth has no access to clean

water. In fact, every year 1.6 million people die from drinking
dirty water.

Hydrologists - the people who study water - say that many

countries are going to face water shortages. These shortages
will affect over two billion people.

What is causing this situation? It is not because the world's

supply of water is running out. In fact, there is the same amount
of water on earth today as there was 2000 years ago.

However, 2000 years ago the population of the world was less
than 3% of what it is today. Now, because there are more
people on earth, there is a greater demand for water. Also, there
are more industries that use water. This is why the world is
facing a water crisis.

 
Hydrologists are trying to find better ways of using the water we
have. This means developing new technologies to help
conserve water.

One of the most exciting technologies is desalination. This

technology turns seawater into fresh water. Basically, salt water
is forced through special thin material. This material lets water
molecules pass through, but blocks the salt molecules. The
water is clean enough to drink.

Let's hope these technologies solve the world's water crisis. Too
many children are dying because they have no access to clean
water.

 When you finish Reading the article, please participate,

by answering the questionnaire, in the forum

 This forum will be qualified on the base of a maximum

communications, and will represent the 20% of the final

Dear Pupils today has been very difficult to work with

the courses, due to maintenance on the platform and
Virtual office. For this reason:

         Project could not be sent today, I will send it on

Tuesday.
         Due to difficulties experienced by many pupils in
EDO, please look at attached file to actualize your
Java. Please download the file and follow the
instructions, when you finish reinstall the Java,
please reinitiate your pc.
         I am preparing additional material for the course,
so you will have further information for the
course.
         In the previous course (Intermediate III)
Additional English help was given to the pupils to
help them in the course. This material is very
valuable and also good for this course. Pupils from
Intermediate III are in this course, so I am
sending this material again, in order that
everyone in the course may have the same
information. Please download the attached file and
store this information for your use in this course
and other levels. You will make good use of it.
         Now I am sending information to help you in unit
one.
         Next week I will send further material for the
other units.

Please try to update yourselves in the units assigned in

EDO. Also log in the forum to do your presentation,
those who have not done so.

Introduction

Dear pupils
By this present message, I am pleased to send each one of you,
a very warm welcome to this new course, and to the English
Discoveries Online
From this moment, I will be your virtual tutor, to help you in this
course; my name is Hidalgo Alberto May García, I studied
Administration at the University of la Salle in Bogotá, and also
English at the University of Guyana, in Georgetown Guyana.
One of my favorite activities is sport like swimming and walking.
I live in San Andres Island, and I work at Sena in the
“Programa de Inglés para todos los colombianos - tutoría
virtual.

Mi main role is to assess and help you in your learning process,

for this reason I extend a cordial invitation to contact me at the

hidamay@hotmail.com; Also you can contact me in the hotmail
messenger from Monday to Friday between 2:00 pm to 10:00
