Our most popular collection, adult fiction, is a product of
50,134 community requests, selection research, and careful
reviews of popular and current fiction.
Adult nonfiction is meant to enhance the lives of
community members. Nonfiction items focus on
35,743
community needs outlined in the community analysis and
patron needs assessment.
Our second most popular collection is Children’s Literature.
The community is home to many families who take
15,352
advantage of this collection and the children’s
programming at the library.
Our large print collection serves mainly the older
community of Atlanta. Large print is our smallest collection,
1,256 but serves a dedicated community. Any book can be
requested in large print size to accommodate this section
of the population.
Our foreign language materials serve mainly a population
of Spanish speakers. Spanish materials are available largely
2,678 in the reference section, and includes titles on US culture,
language learning tools, histories of Spanish-speaking
nations, and everyday reference materials.
Local history is a vital part of the library. Patrons of all ages
and interest groups visit the library for school and work to

unearth the history of our community. We strive to provide
as many primary source local history materials as possible.
Special collections include specific history subjects,
oversized materials, historical children’s literature, and

paperback novels. Our special collections are meant to
cater to the community’s more specific or niche interests.
Our periodical and journal collections include popular
1,742 works, as well as more specialized academic works to cater
to the large college population of Atlanta.
Our reference section is comprised of modern and
2,638 historical works, as well as a large Spanish selection and a
ready reference area.
Our digital resources make up a large portion of our
collection, and are accessible to all community members.
