Good morning dear science and technology lovers ...

Today in Nature we have amazing news

about famous interstellar travel, it is no longer just a dream, it is now a possibility.
Next, we will be on a call with the famous scientist Ilona B, where she will explain a little about
these ships that in the future will be able to be used for travel not only to other planets, but to
other solar systems, to tour the universe. So, Ilona we are with you.

Hi Andrea, thank you very much for inviting me to your newscast. Well if, as you already said,
interstellar travel will no longer be a dream, now it is possible. Imagine for a second if one day
we leave the earth, and we go to another planet like Mars, first we would make a small
community of fifty people, who will install machines that can filter oxygen from the
atmosphere of Mars.
In the first stage all the supplies would come from the Earth, but then we would start by
building solar panel farms for electricity, then we would make underground houses, we would
begin to adapt the soil of Mars to start planting and parallel to that the terraforming.
However, soon we will feel the need to travel to another planet, and not only to another planet,
but to a different solar system and for that we need spaceship, hypervelocity... and then I will
explain a little about the ships that could, in future, be used to travel between stars.

The first ship is:

1 LASER CANDLES
They are like the sails of ships, but they are driven by light waves (it can be a laser, or the light
pressure of sunlight)
when the photons collide with the candle, they push it a little, but the sun emits millions of photons, so
the push can be huge!
An example is the Japanese IKAROS Satellite, it deployed a sail that measured 14 multiplication by
14 meters, that reached in Venus in six months and that is very fast.
Its braking system was proposed by Geoffrey Landis, who said there would be a "magnetic
parachute". It consists of a wire ring one hundred kilometers in diameter that allows the passage of
hydrogen atoms, which with friction would slow down the ship slowly.

2 IONIC MOTORS
They use a gas like xenon, ripping electrons from their atoms to transform them into ions, which are
charge particles, then these ions are accelerated by a magnetic field and ejected.
the impulse generated is very small, however, over time a very high speed can be achieved.
It is positive because it removes a negative part, so there are more protons than electrons, so the
atom is positive

3 NUCLEAR ROCKETS
In this moment, I don’t have image but, The idea is very simple, it consists of the rocket expelling
small nuclear bombs that, when exploding, generate impulse.
According to the calculations, it could reach 10 percent of the speed of light.
hydrogen bombs are used.

4 MERGER ROCKETS
One technique is magnetic confinement. It involves placing gaseous hydrogen in a magnetic field and
then heating it to millions of degrees. the hydrogen nuclei collide, forming helium nuclei and giving off
nuclear energy, that energy, could be used to heat a liquid that is then let out through a tube,
propelling the rocket.
the most similar project built on earth is the ITER (International Experimental Thermonuclear Reactor)

5 ANTIMATERIA ASTRONAVES
I don’t have an example, but its okay. Through the collision of matter and antimatter energy can be
obtained, in fact pure energy can be obtained.
The only residue from the collision is energy, making it one hundred percent effective.
For now, it is very expensive to produce antimatter, the gram would cost about four thousand five
hundred million dollars. So, is very expensive.

6 Spaceships WITH FUSION STATOR REACTORS

On the one hand, funnel-shaped hydrogen enters (there is a lot of loose hydrogen in space), then it
compresses so that it reaches very high temperatures and merges into helium atoms- In the end, that
fusion energy would be expelled propelling the ship.

7 ALCOBIERRE IMPULSE
It proposes curvature acceleration. Think of a table on the right side of a mat, you are on the
other side of the mat, if I want go to the table, I can just walk over to it, but I can also crinkle
the mat to bring the table closer.
That is the curvature acceleration. dont go to the stars but the stars come to us, (the table is the star,
you are the space ship and the mat is space time).
To distort space time, you would have to use a lot of negative energy, which for now is inextricable,
but we know it exists.

And that's all Andrea, then you can start talking about space stations on planets, or on
asteroids so that it works as a kind of “gas station” or as a review station, rest, etc. The trips
for example, last for many years, so now an interstellar trip can take about 600 years, and
obviously the human body would not last, but in the future, we could be talking about 200
years or up to 20 years, and also do experiments with cryogenization of bodies. In fact there is
a Scientist named David Sinckler who for several years has been experimenting with the delay
and return of old age, he has experimented with the eyes of rats, where he induced old age in
one eye, and then induced "youth" , the eye was poisoned to such an extent that it became
blind and then rejuvenated with the perfect sight.
So, as I said before, interstellar travel is not a dream anymore, and in the future we will
succeed.
And that’s all Andrea, thank you for the invitation.

thanks to you Ilona, that is a topic very interesting, well, until today the Nature newsletter for
science and technology lovers, bye bye.
