1- Definition: A video game is a software created for general entertainment based on an electronic
device that runs it; which can be a computer, a play station, an Xbox, etc. Which are known as
platforms. There are simple video games and others more complex, some are capable of narrating
stories and events using audio and video, demonstrating that the video game is another
manifestation of art.

4.2- History: The history of video games has its origin in the 1940s when, after the end of World
War II, the winning powers built the first programmable supercomputers such as the ENIAC, in
1946. The first attempts to implement programs playful character (initially chess programs) did not
take long to appear, and were repeated over the following decades. The first modern video games
appeared in the 1960s, and since then the world of video games has continued to grow.

4.3- Main genres:

Adventure: They are video games in which the protagonist must advance in the plot interacting with
various characters and objects.

Shooting: In these video games the protagonist has to make his way through shooting.

Educational: Video games whose objective is to make the user know some kind of knowledge.

Strategy: They are characterized by the need to manipulate a large group of characters, objects or
data to achieve the objectives.

Fight: They are video games based on hand-to-hand combat. They are divided into one-on-one or
"versus" video games, forward and hit or beaten up video games and the hybrid of both free-for-all
or all against all.

Survival Horror: Corresponding to the horror genre. The protagonists live adventures where they
must emerge unscathed from situations typical of a horror movie (escape from a house full of
zombies, flee from a murderer, solve mysteries to appease the ghosts, etc.)

Impact on society
The video game has served as a two-edged sword in children's audiences: according to a study,
the child develops mental abilities and his reasoning ability is more active compared to a 20-year-
old boy who did not have this technology; Another consequence is the lack of socialization and
some aspects of their motor development.
In contrast, in adults it has been a stress reliever. Nowadays in many places a bad teaching method
is applied whose purpose is memorization. For this reason, professionals call for video games or
educational simulations to be used in the teaching process, since they promote better learning by
having students solve complex problems by developing research activities.

Risk
All in all, the addiction that we have talked about can lead to video game users getting too excited
about a program at some point and spending a disproportionate amount of time, even abandoning
other chores.
Video games are also accused of fomenting violence. However, for its users it is quite clear that it is
a game, a game that precisely allows them to experience the transgression of the rules. The
difference is that in video games the user is the one who makes the decisions of what the fictional
character does.
Conclusion
We make the decisions. A video game comprises a recreation tool that can be constructive
or destructive in some cases (when overused).
It is good to spend some time on recreational activities but considering that video games are
not everything, since sport also helps to relieve stress and other concerns that we may have
