Muhammad- An Introduction

 Born at Makkah (Saudi Arabia) in 570 AD


 Trader in his twenties
 Recognized as ‘Trustworthy’ among his people
 First marriage at the age of 25 to Khadija, a widow aged 40 years

Muhammad- An Introduction

 Bestowed Prophethood when he began receiving revelation at 40, the first


verses …

‘ Read in the name of your Lord who created,


created man from clots of blood.
Read! Your Lord is the most Bounteous,
who has taught the use of the pen,
has taught man what he did not know.’
(Quran- Chapter 96)

 Called people to the truth, faced persecution in Makkah


 Migrated to Madina where he was welcomed wholeheartedly
 A new phase began where Muhammad laid the foundations of a society
based on Divine guidance.

to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness.
 Do treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your
partners and committed helpers.
 And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of
whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
