Becoming A Member Of Society
Republic Act 8293, section 176 states that: No copyright shall subsist in any
work of the Government of the Philippines. However, prior approval of the
government agency or office wherein the work is created shall be necessary for
exploitation of such work for profit. Such agency or office may, among other things,
impose as a condition the payment of royalties.

OVERVIEW
Module Name: Becoming a member of society
To the teacher:
In this part of the lesson, the teacher presented the agent of socialization and
political institutions which defines our social, political and economic affairs in the
society. The different kinds of authority and legitimacy practiced in politics are further
explained through a series of activities.
The primary goal of this module is to help learners engage in some interesting
and practical activities in order to deeply understand the role and impact of social
and political institutions in our society.
To the Learners:
The objectives of this module are best achieved if the learners fully
understand the important functions of social and political organizations as part
in the process of socialization. Additionally, learners are required to:

WHAT’S IN
In previous chapter, you learned that culture is acquired through
socialization and enculturation. That Culture is one of the elements that is
shared by members of society. How the culture acquired by the participants
through agents of socialization and controlling factors which deviated from standard
norms of society is the salient points in this part of the lesson.

AGENTS OF SOCIALIZATION
WHAT IS IT?
Socialization is a continuing process of social interaction
through which people acquired their identities and skills in
society. It is a learning from people to other people. It
exposes the person to the culture of society and acquire
them. An important part of socialization and enculturation
processes are the social groups which are called agents of
socialization:
The results of socialization are great because they established our identity. We
are guided how to act in a socially acceptable ways and because of socialization we
acquire culture that may improve us individuals. Socialization is also a form of social
control. It may be in the form of coercion: like punishment, economy. It may also be
in the form of language which was used as cultural symbols.
