Information Technology

Information technology is a course that is available in many universities and colleges. In

simple terms, information technology is a term which compasses all forms of technology used to

store, use, and exchange information in its various ways. When one is doing this course, there ate

knowledge, skills, and theories they are supposed to obtain through meeting these course

objectives. Workplaces have excellent opportunities for professionals in information technology.

Some of the knowledge and skills acquired in information technology courses such as coding are

applied in the workplace where IT professional codes different languages as many systems are

built using more words. Also, another skill from the IT course is communication. In the

workplace, anyone in IT works across many teams and groups, and with communication skills,

they will be able to interact freely. Also, knowledge on the network is applied at the workplace

where network administrators are responsible for day to day more extensive system operations.

The IT professionals require to have time management as a skill acquired as an objective

of the IT course. This is applied in the workplace since they need to be self-directed when

performing their work. Technology work takes longer than anticipated, so they need to manage

their time well at the workplace. While working, they should be able to assess the time a project

should take accurately. And this enables them to stick on those timelines (ALISON DOYLE,

2019). An IT professional requires problem-solving skills where he/she can use them in the

workplace to solve IT problems or any other problem in his/her department. Many workplace

issues are associated with IT, but when they have acquired this skill in the course of IT, they can

solve the problem (Georgetown, 2018).

The IT professional should know to program. In many workplaces, they require someone

who can do programming. Information technology also has theories such as the learning

management system. This theory is applied in the workplace in controlling and monitoring of

online education activities. The other theory is document management; this is involved in the

workplace where IT professionals save, share, and edit documents in such a way that is most

efficient and effective in an organization. The test management approach theory is applied in the

workplace to test software that delivers high quality and sophisticated software more quickly in

the organization. An organization tests software to provide high quality and more advanced

software for a short time.

IT professionals should have knowledge and skills in cloud computing since it is applied

in the workplace where software and hardware are used to deliver service over a network. In

many workplaces, they require service over a network, which is mostly available in large

organizations. The communication skills connected with the job I used to do an outstanding skill

for one to have when interacting with others. In marketing which is my current work

environment communication skill is the essential component since one has to interact with

people when marketing the company. Also, the theory of document management has a

connection with my current work environment where I share and edit documents in a way that

they are efficient and useful for the organization. The materials that I use for marketing I share

and edit them for the effectiveness of the organization.
