1.

Whether quotations have been used correctly in terms of prescribed rules, layout
and referencing?
Answer:
Mistake 1
Block quotations are not cited properly as per rules e.g.
Direct potable reuse (DPR) is a supply-side approach that can improve sustainability and
reliability of water supplies by recovering drinking water from wastewater. A central question in
planning and engineering today is: how can communities continue to develop and thrive while
meeting the resource needs and providing a high quality of life for future generations. Critical
among these needs is access to adequate water supplies for municipal, industrial, and agricultural
uses. With increasing population and development pressures, many regions around the world
face freshwater shortages (Arnold et al. 2012).
In this paragraph no double space is ensured between text and quotation and no indentation is
done.
Mistake 2
As per punctuation rule period should be placed inside quotation marks.

“We made every living thing from water” (Al-Quran).

Mistake 3
Interpolations must be enclosed in square brackets.

 A severe drought (lack of rainfall for a period of time) was the main cause of the shortage.
 There was also a failure to account/plan for the drought event (by government and planners)
because it was so far out of the norm.
 Population increase (with demand increase) also had a major role
 As a result, reservoir water levels in 6 major dams (that supplied the city) decreased.
 Municipal water supply had to largely be turned off, and residents had to severely decrease
daily water usage (this partly involved queueing up for water rations)
 Water resilience through sustainable abstraction from a diversity of water sources, (including
rivers, dams, groundwater and re-use and desalination where appropriate).

2. Whether footnotes have been used correctly particularly in terms of location, layout,
and numbering?
Answer: No footnote is used in this research report.
