Course Outline: Contemporary Mathematics

Course Description: This course offers to the student an opportunity to learn when and how mathematics can
be used in many different real-life situations. This course aims to integrate mathematics theories to reality,
thereby increasing the level of mathematical literacy of Filipinos.

B. Sets
C. Logic
D. Number Theory and Real Numbers
E. Equation, Inequalities, and Problem Solving
F. Counting Techniques
G. Interests
H. Voting and Apportionment
I. Statistical Data and Measurement
Course Policy:
1. Students must attend the class regularly. Students who incurred three consecutive absences,
without valid reason, could result to being dropped from the class.
2. All students are expected to take quizzes and examinations during the announced date and time.
Students who fail to do so must present an admission slip noticed by the guidance counselor as
“excuse”. Only 85% of the score will be credited.
3. Students who arrive 20 minutes late will not be credited for the day’s quiz. In addition, lateness and
absences can adversely affect overall performance in the class.
4. Late assignments, including projects and course requirements, will be penalized by 10% per day
5. Cheating is not allowed on exams, quizzes, class assignments and projects. Students who were
caught cheating will have a grade of zero and could be subjected to disciplinary sanctions.
6. Utilization of electronic gadgets, such as cellphones and laptops, is not allowed during class hour
except for some class activities that requires the use of it.
7. Non-compliance of any of the requirements would mean an incomplete grade or failing grade.
