Learning Plan in English for Grade 7
I – Objectives:
At the end of the sessions, the students are expected to:
a. Understand how analogies are used;
b. make comparisons between concepts and complete analogies; and
c. supply words or expressions that complete an analogy.
II – Subject Matter:
Topic: Analogies

Materials: Puzzles, Slideshow
III – Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Greetings
B. Motivation:
Flash on display pictures of different objects and ask the students to link two
objects together, then describe why they chose to put them together.
C. Discussion:
Discuss the concept of analogies (a comparison of two things that are related to
one another) and the different types.
Provide ample examples of analogies to the learners.
D. Activity:
Have the learners complete the analogy word-puzzle individually.
E. Analysis:
Ask the learners to identify the type of analogy by presenting them some more
examples.
a. What kind of relationship does this pair of words have?
b. What type of analogy is used?

F. Abstraction:
Ask the learners at random about analogies and the different types.
G. Application:
“Match my energy.” – Pair up the learners and have them come up with 10 words
individually. The pairs are to try to form analogies from each other’s set of words
without knowing what each of them wrote.
IV – Evaluation
The learners are going to answer a worksheet with analogy questions (fill in the blanks,
multiple choice, etc.).
