Study on threading and bobbin winding for single needle

lock stitch machine

Introduction: Threading sewing machines is it as difficult as it my seem.

Although sewing machines may come from different manufacturers they are al
threaded basically the same, with only a few very minor differences. Many
times, when problems arise with the machine not stitching properly, it is the
way the machine has been threaded. Threading sewing machines not a task
to be feared, and important that the machine it threaded correctly. exactly as

regarding your machine However, there are some general tips to keep in mind
before you begin to wind your bobbin.

Objective:
1. To kam how to treading in singk eadle bck sich mchine for sewing

2. To learn how to bobbin winding in singde needle bck stich machine forsewing

Apparatus:
1. Sewing muchie Thead Bobbin 4. Bobbin case 5. Thread cuner 6. Scksors
Working procedure: • Threading Order of threading in the Sewing Machine parts:

1. Spool pin
2. Thread Guide
3. Between mctal disc of temin
4. Thread take up cover
5. Thread guide
6, Lower thread gide
7. Threading the needle

Step 1: Put the spool of thread on the spool pin Phce i securely on the spool pin
Step 2: Bring the thread around the upper thread guide, Traveing from the spool
holder across the top of the muchine, kok for a minimum of one thread guide.
Invert the thread in the thread guáde.

Step 3: Now bok for a tension mechansm. Bring the thread downward to the
tension mechanis m sip the thread between the metal disks of the tesion
mechunism and travel back upward with the thread. Pull
the thread between the metal dsc of the tension Guiding the thread around the
thread guide and puling the thread through the pre-tension sprng that is part of
the thread gide. The thread is now movng in a clockwise direction

Step 4: Bring the thread up to the thread take up lever and rase it as i goes. Look
for a take-up lever. This is the area on the frort of the machine which wil o up and
down when you tun the hand wheel. Place the thread through the take-up lever,
Some machines are set up so the thread wil slide into this whie others requre you
to phce the thread through a hok The thread will now go down on the kft sile of
the take-up ever. Tum the handwheel on the side of the machine to ove the take-
up ever to is highest position Draw the thread though or around i to secure it in
the eye of the take-up lever.

Step 5: Locate and thread any thread guides, Lading down to the sewing
machine needle. Pull the thread down to the thread guide.

Step 6: Put through the lower thread guide.

Step 7: Thread the sewing machine needle. For best resuts, hokl the thread with
and turn the hnnd wheel

The needle is now threaded, and threading the muchine is complete.

Winding the bobbin

Step 1: Remove the bobbin case.

Step 2: Remove the bobbin from the bobbin case for winding.

Step 3: Take the turead to a thread guide that is cbsest to the spool pin but
heading for the bobbin and gides the thread into the guide.

Step 4. There will be some sort of a guide that maght bok like tension desk
that the thread wil go betwen to how tenxpn on the thread before I goes to the
bobbin Pass the thread around the tenson dak for the bobbin winder.

Step 5 : Placing the thread through one of the small holes on the bobbin and
placing the bobbin on the bobbin spindle .

Step 6: Pushing the bobbin on the spindle to the right to make contact with the
bobbin winding device, then pushing the start button on the sewing muchine
or pressing the knot pedal if using a manual process.
Step 7 : Holding one end of the thread as the bobbin wind the bobbin wil
begin to dow down and stop when the bobbin is full.

Step 8: Oce the bobbin is full the bobbin is pushed to the kt, and removed;
the exess thue ad is cut from the end protnading from the snall hole in tde
bobbin .

Step 9. The bobbin is now ready kor invertion to the bobbin holder and
threading the kwer thread or bringing up the bobbin ttread as it s ako caled.

Step 10: Now insert the bobbin case into the shutte under the sewing
machine. Be sure to hear the case being kcked upon iserting the bobbin case
inside the shunle. Bobbing winding finished.

Conclusion:
Threading your sewng machine correctly is necessary to achieve secure and
attractive stiches. Although sewing machines come in diflerent sizes and
modek, the mechanis m for making a stitch on a home sewing machine k
basicaly staches by combining the ncedle thread with a second thread coming
from the bobbin. Threading a sewing machine is an easy process that takes
kss than five minutes. Winding a bobbin is an easy task, yet it is an important
element in creating good stich qualty. Al top bading Janome sewing machines
use the same ckar plastic bobbins for proper stiching. A bobbin is an
important part of the stitch process when using a sewing machine. The thread
from a bobbin wil interlock with the top thread to form a complete stach A
bobbin winder can be found on almost every sewing muchine. This winder will
bad thead from a larger spool onto a smal round spool This smal spool wil ft
irto the bobbin compartment of the sewing machine.

Precaution:
1. It is best to thread the muchine while it is turned off
2. Always thoroughly clean and od any machine bekoe runing i.

3. Always start sewing sbwly to test your machine treading. Practice on

samples or scraps to try a simple straigh seam

4. Use good thead to prevent excess lit in the machine
