Good Morning lecturers. Thanks to God because today I can reach final project seminar.

My
name is.. iam from.. today i will present about my final project. This is the title of my final
project
SLIDE 3
The Savonius turbine is a very simple type of turbine. This turbine has a vertical axis which
consists of two half cylindrical axes arranged together so that it is shaped like the letter "S".
The two blades on the Savonius turbine is called the advancing blade and returning blade
which aim to create positive torque and negative torque and a different drag on each turbine
blade.
By modifying the blade using a combined blade shape from the results of the Myring
Equation n = 1 and n = 2 and adding a circular cylinder on the returning blade of the
Savonius water turbine with varying angles and stagger diameters can improve the
performance of the Savonius water turbine.
SLIDE 9
Start, identify the problem, do study literature from.., an then collect the data, make a model,
geometry of savonius turbine, an do meshing, after that running the model to get grid
independence. Model validation with experimental results. Simulation with adding stagger
cylinder, simulation on various variabels. And then collect the data from simulation result.
After that, analyze the data and get the conclusion
SLIDE 10
this geometry uses the equations myring n = 1 and n = 2. This geometry which will later be
included in the gambit software for the design and meshing process.

SLIDE 11
This picture is the result of meshing from gambit software. This sample picture was taken
from variations stagger diameter 12 cm with 0 degrees angle. Stagger diameter 8 cm with 30
degrees angle. Stagger diameter 16 cm with 60 degrees angle. This meshing will be exported
to ansys fluent to get the result of Coefficient of torque, coefficient of power, countur
velocity, countur pressure and distribution of pressure.

SLIDE 12
This is the results of coefficient of torque and coefficient of power. This sample picture was
taken from the smallest result and biggest result. The smallest results is ds/D=0,4 or diameter
stagger 16 cm with 0 degrees angle. The highest increase of torque coefficient is 0,3343 in
TSR 0.4. The highest inscrease of power coefficient is 0.2251 in TSR 0.8.
The biggest results is ds/D=0,4 or diameter stagger 16 cm with 60 degrees angle. The highest
increase of torque coefficient is 0.4972 in TSR 0.6. The highest inscrease of power
coefficient is 0.3862 in TSR 1.

SLIDE 13
as explained on the previous slide, the smallest result of cm is in ds/D=0.4 with 0 deegres
angle. And the biggest result is in ds/D=0.4 with 60 degrees angle.

SLIDE 14
as explained on the previous slide, the smallest result of cp is in ds/D=0.4 with 0 deegres
angle. And the biggest result is in ds/D=0.4 with 60 degrees angle.

SLIDE 15
We can see the highest increase in power coefficient is 19 percent in the stagger diameter 16
cm with an angle of 60 degrees. While the biggest decrease is 30 percent in the stagger
diameter 16 cm with an angle of 0 degrees.

SLIDE 16
This is the countur velocity pathline, and this sample pictures was taken from the smallest
result and the biggest result of power coefficient. We can see there is stagnation flow in
returning blade area, dragging flow in front of advancing blade and attached flow in the
advancing blade side which can cause prsessure drop on the back side advancing blade, so it
cause delta pressure on the front side and on the back side of advancing blade. The torque
will increase and the performance of turbine will increase too.

SLIDE 17
This is the countur pressure, this sample pictures was taken from the smallest result and the
biggest ressult of power coefficient. As explained in the previous slide, in the area where
attached flow occurs, there is a significant delta pressure in the advancing blade that causes
an increase in turbine performance.

SLIDE 18
As explained in the previous slide, ds/D=0.4 with 60 degrees angle have a biggest result in cp
because the delta pressure is the biggest. And the delta pressure in ds/D 0.4 with 0 degrees
angle smaller than ds/D=0.4 with 60 degrees angle
