RESOLUTION: EVERSOURCE

WHEREAS, the Town of Seymour is serviced for electric power by the public utility

Eversource; and

WHEREAS, a tropical storm did a great deal of damage to the Town of Seymour and the

resulting damage caused widespread electric service outages; and

WHEREAS, Eversource seemed woefhlly unprepared to rectili’ the power outages

throughout the Town of Seymour; and

WHEREAS, Eversource was not responsive to Seymour public officials regarding the

massive outage, the timetable for the restoration of power and did not have adequate resources in

place to restore service in a reasonable manner;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that First Selectman, W. Kurt Miller, is tasked

with exploring the possibility of switching the Town of Seymour to the United Illuminating

Company service area for the purpose of providing electric power to the residents of the Town of

Seymour. Additionally, the First Selectman is frilly empowered to engage state officials and

other relevant parties for the express purpose of attempting to obtain better, more reliable electric

service than that provided by Eversource to the people of Seymour.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Seymour, by and through, its First

Selectman, W. Kurt Miller, is authorized to join with other municipalities to take such concerted

action against Eversource as is necessary to address the present failure to perform by Eversource.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Seymour hereby expresses its universal

condemnation regarding the incompetent performance by Eversource with respect to this

essential public service.

The people of Seymour deserve better.
