Kinds of Sets 1. N = {n,e,w} and O = {o,l,d}. _______________________

Try This! 2. P = {1,2,3,4} and A = {a,b,c,d,e}. ____________________

is done for you. 4. Q = {t,e,a} and S = {e,a,t}. _________________________
A. {2,4,6,8,…20} FINITE
B. {0} ___________ B. Write I if the given set is infinite and F if it is finite after each item.
C. {3,5,7,…} ___________ 1. {g,o,l,d} 3. {x|x <3}
2. P = {1,2,3,4} 4. {1,2,3,4,…}
The answer for letter B is FINITE, since the set consist of one
countable element while in letter C the answer is infinite since there
are still numbers that will follow after the last element this is due to
the presence of the ellipses (…).

1. Finite Sets – sets with countable number of elements

Example:
F = {banana, starfruit, jackfruit}, since set F has 3 countable
elements. Set F is an example of a finite sets.

2. Infinite Sets – Sets with infinite number of elements, commonly

we can see this symbol (…) called ellipses. Which means there are
more elements of the same kind that follows.
Example:
B = {1,2,3,4,5,…}, Set B is a set of all counting numbers hence there
are still infinite numbers after the last element e.g 6,7,8,9,10 etc.

Paired Sets
3. Joint Sets – Sets having at least one common/similar element.
Example:
A = {a,b,c,d,e} and C = {a,e,I,o,u}, Set A and C had two common
elements “a” and “e” making set A and C to a Joint Set.
