Aim of the study (max 1000 characters)

Compare the binary parameters of a binary mixture using experimental data found in the literature and
data modeled by the Aspen plus software to confirm the effectiveness of the equiplibrary diagrams and
calculations given by Aspen.

Result analysis (Max 1000 characters)

- By using the root mean square error (RMSE) it was possible to evaluate the efficiency of the Aspen
plus predictive model, obtaining values for the variables Temperature (T), Composition of methanol in
liquid (X) and Composition of methanol in Steam (Y) of 0.0448, 6.2593E-06 and 6.24035E-06
respectively, where we find that they are effective since they are less than 0.3. (Quote)
- Comparing the Aspen model with the literature data, it was deduced that the binary mixture does not
present any azeotrope in the temperature range from 65.04 to 78.00 at a constant pressure of 1
atmosphere.
- Using a visual and graphical method we can infer that the two models are indeed very similar.

Conclusions (Max 200 words)

-The Aspen NRTL activity coefficients model simulates appropriately the liquid-vapor equilibrium
compartment of the methanol-ethanol binary mixture at the given conditions, concluding that it will be
very suitable for any flash, binary distillation process, among others.
