Accessing eDesigner (2): Versions for China and Outside China

After accessing eDesigner, select the country or area where you are located. For the first login, the default
country is China. After you select a country, eDesigner automatically memorizes your selection.

Solution Design Process
eDesigner provides wizard-based design steps. You will complete the solution
design in four steps. The following uses the Storage Configuration Wizard
(OceanStor Dorado V3&V6) solution as an example.

Estimate Solution: Estimate the equipment list price and solution list price.
Export Product List: Export an equipment list in Excel file to import to the CFG
for configuration and quotation.
Adjust: Adjust the solution design.
For other solutions like Backup, Active-Active mode including

Export Proposal: Generate a technical proposal in a Word document.

After design, you can view the design result — the solution topology view and equipment configuration list — to generate a
technical proposal (for some solutions like Backup, Active-Active Mode) and export an equipment list.

Note: After it is designed, the solution exists as a temporary solution. You can archive the solutions for future use.

The Configuration page displays the device models, quantity, and basic configurations. The official materials
on the device are also available.

In the Configuration column, the


first five pieces of configuration
information are displayed. Click
More to view detailed device
configurations.
You can click the product
picture to view the official
materials of a product.

Note: In Active-Active Mode, Active_Passive Mode, you can select Display list price on the Configuration page as
required. After this option is selected, product list prices will be displayed on this page, along with an exported equipment list
and design report.

device model, quantity, and
basic configurations. The
entered requirements of the
solution are also available.

Note:
• When you export an equipment list for solution of the China Region, eDesigner displays a message stating that the
solution cannot be connected to the CFG and asking you to select a solution to submit to the SCT. This is because the
product is not available in the CFG.
• On the exported device list, if not-for-quotation products, not-for-sale products, or user-defined equipment are involved,
the devices cannot be imported to the CFG. You can use substitutes, or contact the corresponding Huawei Channel
manager for assistance.

Placing an Order: Submitting Solutions to SCT

When you submit a solution to the SCT, if the
solution is not archived, eDesigner automatically
archives the solution.

eDesigner is interconnected to SCT. You can submit designed solutions to the SCT for
configuration and generate a quotation.

Note:
• In Configuration mode, if not-for-quotation products, not-for-sale products, or user-defined equipment are involved, the
devices cannot be imported to the SCT. You can use substitutes, or contact the corresponding Huawei Channel manager
for assistance.

Placing an Order: What Is SCT?

• The UniSTAR SCT is a new generation


configuration and quotation tool that adopts
the B/S architecture.
• In the bidding and contract signing stages,
product managers can use the UniSTAR
SCT for performing configuration and
providing quotations. Project data can be
used in manufacturing, shipment, project
preparation, and project implementation
stages until the contract is complete.

Archiving Solutions (1)

The parameters in the Country/Area text box


are entered when a solution is created, and
cannot be modified.

After a solution design is created, it exists as a temporary 3


solution. You can archive the solutions for future use.

Archiving Solutions (2)
Click My eDesigner to access My Solutions page.

Before a solution is archived, the solution name


is Draft Solution by default. After archiving, the
name is set to the archived designation.
• You can archive each solution only once. After All archived solutions are
archiving, if you adjust the solution by clicking displayed on My Solutions
Previous or Next to switch pages, the setting on page.

Managing Solutions (1)

Modify basic solution information.

Click the name of a solution and


you can adjust the design.

On My Solutions page you can query, delete, share, and copy solutions, and adjust the design.

Note:
1. The solution cannot be accessed in the current language. (The solutions created in the Chinese system environment cannot be opened in the
English-language system environment, and visa-versa.)
2. If Country/Area of a solution in the English-language system environment is not the current country, you can only view the solution design result,
and estimate the solution.
3. During the process of adjusting the solution, click Previous, Next, or Solution Design on the solution design toolbar. The setting of the previous

page is automatically saved. During modification, if you switch to another solution or exit eDesigner, the setting on the current page is not saved.
Managing Solutions (2)
Click Move To, and then move
selected solutions to another folder.

• Click and add a new subfolder to the selected folder.

• Click and modify the name of the selected folder.

Sharing Solutions (1)
You can share solutions with others.

Share selected

• After the solution is successfully shared,
eDesigner automatically sends an email to the
user, who requests the solution and sends a
copy to the user, who shares the solution.
• Address Book: After sharing a solution, the
email address of the user who wants the solution
is automatically uploaded to the Address Book.
You can click the email to share again.

The Shared By Me tab displays the solutions you share with


others. You can also cancel sharing.
