Course Objectives:
 The course aims to offer in depth knowledge of Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic
Control and use these for controlling real time systems

Expected Course Outcome:


On the completion of this course the student will be able to:
 Apply the concepts of feed forward and feed back neural networks.
 Apply the concept of fuzziness involved in various systems and able to analyze fuzzy set
theory involved in solving Engineering problems.
 Design and formulate the fuzzy logic control and adaptive fuzzy logic and also will be
able to design the fuzzy control using genetic algorithm.
 Analyze the real time system with the knowledge of application of Fuzzy logic control.

Topology – characteristics of artificial neural networks – types of activation functions- Learning
Laws: learning methods – error correction learning – Hebbian learning – Perceptron – XOR
Problem – Perceptron learning rule convergence theorem – Adaline - Madaline

Multilayer Perceptron – Delta Learning - Back Propagation learning algorithm – Universal
function approximation – Associative memory: auto association and hetero association

Bi-directional associative memory – Hopfield neural network – Travelling Salesman Problem

Kohonen Self organizing Feature Map – Counter propagation – Learning Vector Quantization -
Adaptive Resonance Theory – Concept of support vector machines - Applications of neural
networks in image processing, signal processing, modeling and control.

Introduction – classical sets and fuzzy sets – classical relations and fuzzy relations –
membership functions – fuzzy to crisp conversion, fuzzy arithmetic, numbers, vectors, and
extension principle

Fuzzy rule based systems – fuzzy nonlinear simulation – fuzzy control systems and de-
fuzzification methods. Neuro Fuzzy: Mathematical formulation of adaptive neuro-fuzzy
inference systems
