I am ecstatic about the opportunity to work in the Medical- Surgical unit with the Jackson Health
System. Jackson Health System is an ideal hospital that I can learn from and be able to give back
my knowledge to others. Upon graduation, I will work towards my goal of becoming an
exceptional Registered Nurse. I believe that working in such a prestigious medical facility such as
Jackson North Medical Center will help towards that goal by strengthening my nursing skills,
communication with patients and family, and my overall desire to assist others.

Prior to COVID-19, I completed Fundamentals of Nursing and Medical-Surgical rotations at

Jackson North and also an Obstetrics rotation at Jackson Memorial Hospital. I spent a
considerable amount of time assisting my assigned nurse and allowing him/her to delegate tasks
and goals for me to complete under their or my professor’s direct supervision. Many of my tasks
consisted of gathering complete, accurate vital signs on patients, helping to administer meals or
medications as scheduled, and ensuring that I had reviewed and understood all of my patients’
chief complaints and reason for admission. In obstetrics, I was able to use skills I have learned from
my previous rotations to provide comfort and care to pregnant mothers and also newborns in the
NICU. Prior to entering nursing school, I worked for ScribeAmerica as a Scribe in the emergency
departments of Florida Hospital (now AdventHealth) in the Orlando area and then was promoted
to a Travel Trainer at the University of Miami. I used scribing as a way to educate myself on
medical terminology, proper patient documentation, and the laws of HIPAA. I have found that my
experience as a scribe coupled with my ability to complete an accelerated-option program for
nursing school, has built a solid understanding of the importance of time-management and
knowing to work on my own but also in a team-setting.

I am extremely humbled about the possibility of working with the Jackson Health System and hope
