I will continue with Japanese Regime

So their focus was the love of labor. What was given emphasis was tech voc or
technical vocational. Eradication of dependence on Westerners. So the Japanese
people wanted us to be influenced and dependent on our Asian brothers. So they
said, we are all Asians, do not be dependent on the Americans, do not be dependent
on the Spanish. They use Nihonggo in teaching the kids. So the medium of
instruction was Nihonngo. And of course, what you need to remember here is that
the President during this time is Jose p. Laurel also called as the Puppet President.
•6 basic principles of japanese Education
1. Realization of NEW ORDER and promote friendly
relations between Japan and the Philippines to the
farthest extent
2. Fostering a new Filipino culture based, having distinct one apart from the culture
they got from other colonizers. Japanese stressed out to have their own culture.
3. Endeavor to elevate the morals of people, giving
up over emphasis of materialism. So materialism shall be eradicated and morals
should be uplifted and should be emphasized by the Filipinos under Japanese
regime.
4. Diffusion of the Japanese language in the
Philippines. So this is by using Nihonggo.
5. Promotion of VOCATIONAL course.
6. To inspire people with the spirit of love and labor The love of labor should be
practiced and realized.
So under the Japanese curriculum,
•School calendar became longer so that means
•No summer vacation for students so how sad diba..
•Class size increased to 60 so Filipinos are now enrolling
•Deleted anti-asian opinions, they banned the singing of
american songs, deleted american symbols, poems
and pictures
•Nihongo as a means of introducing and cultivating
love for Japanese culture
Take Note!
Spanish- Reign for 300 years
American- 50 years
Japanese- about four years

•It is thus not surprising that despite the measure

they had instituted, the Japanese failed to succeed in
transforming the values and attitudes of the people in
line with their vision of the NEW ORDER.
•A contributory factor was widely reported brutalities
that ushered in the Japanese occupation that the
Filipinos did not experience with the same degree
during the American period. So you see even with great efforts made by the
Japanese for the development curriculum, still Filipinos did not patronized the
principles they acted upon us because they failed to treat us nicely and fairly as
citizens. Instead, Filipinos experiences brutality that discouraged them to love the
Japanese and the teachings they brought to us.

So we now go to the 3rd Philippine Republic, this is after the Japanese regime. In
1947, United States relinquished all it authority over the Philippines. Social and
economic development was pushed. By this time kasi, the war just ended. It focused
on the rehabilitation of the school system because 80 % of the schools at this time
were ruined. And of course, there were several educational advancements. The
President during the 3rd Republic was Manuel Roxas who is the grandfather of Mar
Roxas.
Republic Act 416 1949
And it changed thePhilippine normal school name to philippine normal college. And
now we call it Philippine Normal University.
Republic act 1265 (1955)
Compulsory daily flag ceremony
Republic act 1424 (1956)
Rizal Law

COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES COURSES ON THE LIFE, WORKS AND WRITINGS OF
JOSE RIZAL, PARTICULARLY HIS NOVELS NOLI ME TANGERE AND EL FILIBUSTERISMO,
AUTHORIZING THE PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, today, more than any other period of our history, there is a need for a re-
dedication to the ideals of freedom and nationalism for which our heroes lived and
died. The life, works and writing of Jose Rizal, particularly his novels Noli Me Tangere
and El Filibusterismo, are a constant and inspiring source of patriotism with which
the minds of the youth, especially during their formative and decisive years in
school, should be sufficed.

The Magna Carta for Public School Teachers otherwise known as Republic Act No.
4670, this was envisioned to provide programs for the promotion and improvement
of the well-being and economic status of public school teachers.
This bill shall also provide additional benefits and privileges that will make certain
that public school teachers will receive what is due them.

Next is New Society. So now we will talk about Ferdinand Marcos Regime with
regards to our Philippine Curriculum. And here, Department of Education and
Culture was established. Which was later on changed to Ministry of Education and
Culture in 1978. They established or created 13 regional offices. There is a major
organizational change

The Study of Constitution shall be part of the curricula in all schools.

Under the constitution, he emphasized educational aims below

Teaches duties of citizienship

Post edsa, Now under Edsa, under the time of the former Pres. Corazon Aquino. We
