Notes & Tips

● Doll and clothing are worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise noted. Place marker
at the beginning of each round.
● Make secure, firm stitches.
● Stuff doll firmly along the way. As you work through small areas of the doll body it becomes
difficult to stuff further back into the doll so be sure to stuff every few rows while working
small areas!
● While working the body of the doll you can hide the yarn tails in the body to save time
weaving in ends.
● The clothing can either be worked separately or around the body of the doll. They are
made to fit so they can stay on without sewing and can be interchangeable with other doll
clothing. They can be sewed on as well if desired!

Instructions
Frame
Doll’s Head and Body
Create a simple wire frame with pipe cleaners for the body of the doll. This step is essential for
being able to pose the arms and legs and for the head to be able to stand up on its own. Be sure to
wrap the wire around the neck several times to ensure that it is really sturdy! The frame is easily
adjusted while working the doll if the lengths do not match. If the pipe cleaner is too short just
twist another one on to the end to extend it and if it is too long just bend it over inside of the doll!
Begin by twisting 2 pipe cleaners together. Repeat until you have 5.

With one of the twisted pipe cleaners make the torso about 4” and the head about 1 ¾”” in
diameter. Wrap the excess around the neck several times leaving about ½’ for the neck. Next,
create the arms at about 4 ¾” long. Fold the tips of the arms over slightly for the hands and so
the pipe cleaner doesn’t poke you! Wrap the excess down the torso.
With the last 2 twisted pipe cleaners, create the legs. Fold the tips over about ¾” long for the
feet. Make the legs about 6” long and wrap the excess up the torso.
Beginning from the top of the dolls head, with the E hook and off-white, ch 3. Sl st to first chain to
create a ring.
Work 6 sc into the middle of the ring. (6 sc)
Row 1. 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
Row 2. *sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next. Repeat from * around. (18 sc)
Row 3. *sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next. Repeat from * around. (24 sc)
Row 6-12. Sc around. (36 sc)
Row 13. *sc in the next 4 stitches, dec. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)
Place the head around the wire frame at this point with the current st in the back. Continue to
work around the wire frame as you continue to work the body of the doll.
Row 16. *sc in the next st, dec. Repeat from * around. (12 sc)
If using safety eyes, position and place them at this point. Use the wire frame as your guide for
center placement of the eyes. Your current st will be in the middle back of the head. I have placed
the eyes 9 rows up from the bottom row with 5 stitches in between each eye. Stuff head firmly.

Row 25. Sc in the next 14 stitches, skip the next 8 stitches for the arm, continue to sc around the
next 14 stitches for the body, skip the next 8 stitches. Begin the next round with the first st from
this round. (28 sc)
Row 26. Sc in each st around. (28 sc)
Row 27. Dec, sc in the next 10 stitches, dec, dec, sc in
the next 10 stitches, dec. (24 sc)
Row 28. *sc in the next 2 stitches, dec. Repeat from *
around. (18 sc)
Row 35. (be sure the increases occur at the hip area) sc
in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 8
stitches, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 7 stitches. (20

Row 36. Sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next 2 stitches, sc

Row 41. Divide stitches in half, 14 for each leg, continue to sc around the 14 marked stitches for
the doll’s left leg. (14 sc)

Row 43. Sc in the next 4 stitches, dec, sc in the
next 8 stitches. (13 sc)

Row 69. Sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next 2
stitches, sc in the next st, sl st in the next 4 stitches. (10 sts)
*Make the slip stitches loosely so you will be able to insert your hook into them in the next row.

Right Leg
With off-white, create a slip knot and pick up the
st located at the center back for the right leg.
Row 1. Continue to sc around the 14 marked
stitches for the doll’s right leg. (14 sc)
Row 3. Sc in the next 4 stitches, dec, sc in the next
8 stitches. (13 sc)

Row 4. Sc in the next 3 stitches, dec, sc in the next 8 stitches. (12 sc)
Row 13. Sc in the next 3 stitches, dec, sc in the next 3 stitches, dec. (8 sc)
Row 29. Sl st in the next 4 stitches, sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next 2 stitches, sc in the next st.

Fasten off. Weave tail through remaining stitches and tie off. Weave in ends.
Doll’s left arm

Create a slip knot and pick up the st located directly under the arm.

Doll’s left hand

Dress
With hook F & light blue, ch 18. Sl st to first ch to create a ring. Continue to work in continuous
rounds.

Row 8. Sc in the next 7 sts, 2sc in the next 2 sts, sc in the next 10 sts, 2 sc in the next 2 sts, sc in the
next 3 sts. (28 sc)

Row 9. Sc in the next 12 sts, hdc in the next 2 sts, dc in the next 2 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in the

Change to silver.

Skirt
With F hook and light blue, create a slip knot and pick up the chain from the top just worked on the
center back where you began the chain. You will now be working the bottom skirt of the dress in
the opposite direction than you worked the top of the dress.
Row 1. *Sc in the next 2 ch, 2 sc in the next ch.
Repeat from * around. (24 sc)
Continue to work in continuous rounds.
Row 2. *sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st.

Fasten off. Weave in ends. Starting at the slit in the dress, work a sc border around the entire edge
of the dress, working 2 sc in the corners.

Sleeves
Mark 3 stitches on the dress under each arm for the sleeves. You will have 11 stitches in between
the marked stitches on the back and the front of the dress.
Left Sleeve
With F hook and silver, create a slip knot and pick up the first marked stitch located at the
underarm for the left sleeve.

Row 1. Sc in the three marked stitches. Ch 7. Continue working in continuous rounds. (3 sc, 7
ch)
Sl st to the next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Right Sleeve
With F hook and silver, create a slip knot and pick up the first marked stitch located at the
underarm for the right sleeve.
Row 1. Sc in the three marked stitches. Ch 7. Continue working in continuous rounds. (3 sc, 7
ch)

Sl st to the next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Shoes (make 2)
With F hook and silver, ch 4.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from hook and the next ch, 3 sc in the last ch. Rotate piece to work
down the other side of the ch. Sc in the next ch, 2sc in the last ch. (you will have 3 sc in the
beginning and end ch and one on each side in the middle chain.) (8 sc)

Row 3. Sc in the back loop only in each st around. (16 sc)
Row 4. Sc in the next 5 sts, dec, dec, sc in the next 7 sts. (14 sc)
Row 5. Sc in the next 3 sts, dec, dec, dec, sc in the next 5 sts. (11 sc)
Slip stitch to next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Cape
With E hook and white, ch 13 .
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 2-5. Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 6. 2 sc in the next st, sc to the last st, 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn. (14 sc)
Row 7. Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (14 sc)

Row 30. 2 sc in the next st, sc to the last st, 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1, turn. (38sc)

Work a sc border along entire edge of cape, placing 2 sc in each corner. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Elsa’s Hair
Hair cap
With hook F and cream, ch 3, sl st to beginning ch to create a ring.
Row 1. Work 6 sc into the middle of the ring. (6 sc)
Row 2. 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
Row 3. *sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next. Repeat from * around. (18 sc)
Sl st to the next st, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Position to head for the hairline and sew
to the head.

Cut strands of cream 20” long. Separate strands. Fold 1 strand of the 2 separated strands in half
and loop over hook at the center. Insert hook into a st in the hair cap, draw up a loop and pull
through. Repeat along edge of hair cap and throughout until desired fullness. Braid loosely down
the side and secure. Trim ends.
Details

Dress Sequins
Sew clear 8/0 seed beads all over the dress bodice.

Eyebrows
With light brown, embroider the eyebrows.
Nose
With off-white, embroider the nose. Wrap the yarn around one stitch 3 times and tie off.
Eyelashes
With black embroidery floss, embroider the eyelashes.
Mouth
With burgundy embroidery floss, embroider the mouth.
Cheeks
Add blush to the cheeks and the tip of the nose.
