Project Description

Objectives

1. Training of non formal education techniques and tools so as to empower the capacity
of youth workers to develop and improve the social and professional skills of youth
people, especially those of marginalized areas (migrants, refugees, special needs
youth)
2. Exchange of experiences and successful tools used already by each partner that fulfill
the development and improvement of the aforementioned skills.
3. Improve the European experience and footprint of the organizations and extent their
European network
4. Use this project as the base for a future partnership about the professional
development of marginalized youth people.

These objectives are in straight line with the goals of EU Youth Strategy 2019 – 2027.
 Goal 3 Inclusive societies “Strengthen the capacities of educators to work with
marginalized young people.”
 Goal 8 Quality Learning “Promote open-mindedness and support the development of
interpersonal and intercultural skills” & “Incorporate methods within formal and non-
formal education settings that enable the learner to develop personal skills including
critical and analytical thinking, creativity and learning”

What are the needs?

During the TCA seminar last April in Odessa, 5-7(?) partners of this application discussed
about the difficulties and challenges they meet during their work with young people - especially
those of marginalized areas (refugees, NEET’s, minorities). All partners identified some basic
needs of youth people, which are essential for their social inclusion and employability:
 Sense of belonging
 Independence
 Transform ideas into action
 need to feel and believe they are capable and experience success at solving problems
and meeting challenges

Workers of our organization very often feel powerless in fulfilling these needs of youth person.
Some partners have a small experience but not significant to make the difference. This project
will empower youth workers of the participants’ organizations with tools and methods so as to
be capable of addressing these needs of young people. Youth workers will exchange
experiences of good practices and mainly will be trained in new by the professional staff of the
applicant organization.

e-Nable Greece, though is an organization with one and a half year of life, has as members
professional educators and psychologist who work many years with marginalized young
people (especially immigrants, ethnic and religious minorities).

All the partners of this project work with marginalized young people.
e-Nable Greece, the host organization, helps people native or refugees from Syria and
Arabian countries, by building for them prosthetic devices. Being a member of the ACCMR the
Athens Coordination Center for Migrant & Refugee issues, has daily contact with these
marginalized young people e-Nable Greece’s professionals use techniques and tools in an
effort to help these people to be included in society and find a job. These techniques and tools
has been successful for our young people and e-Nable Greece desires to act as multiplier of
this experience for the other partners

Target groups
Youth workers of partner organizations: this is the direct beneficiary group, which will form a
skill package to help the youth of their organizations

Youth people direct connected with partners: these are the young people belonging on the
network of partners’ organizations or receiving help from them. These young people consist of
refugees, immigrants, minorities, special needs people (mainly of physical amputations) or
NEET persons.

Other youth organizations: Apart from the fact that partners will spread the project results in
other organizations of their local and national network, one aim of the project is the partners to
act as multipliers for them. In order for that to happen, the partners intend to apply for a KA2
Youth partnership next year with activities for youth and youth workers of other organizations
of their network.

Activities
This project proposes one training activity for Youth workers in Athens, Greece. During this
activity the participants will focus on two topics
1. How to form social skills (self-esteem, confidence, trust, teamwork, civic participation
etc.) of young people on the verge of exclusion and how to help them face multiple
discrimination, prejudices and inclusion challenges.
2. How to form skills (as participatory learning, design thinking, critical thinking and
initiative) of marginalized youth, increasing their accessibility in labour market and
potential for employment.

These two topics of the training will be addressed by Participatory learning Methodologies and
the presentation of the Design Thinking Guide.
- Participatory Learning (PL) Methodologies are methods of collaborative learning such as the
Circle, World Cafe and Open Space. There are four basic practices that are key to the
Participatory Learning: a) Being Present, b) Engaging in conversations, c) Hosting
conversations and d) Becoming a community of practice
- Design thinking guide to form skills as teamwork, think out of the box and problem solving of
marginalized youth which will help them to be more efficient and flexible in their profession.
The youth workers will participate in experiential Design thinking workshops (groups of 7
people) following the steps Empathise, define, ideate, prototype, and test.
