Dr. Trufas offers Mini Dental Implants at Hudson Valley Dental Care
Many people lose one or more teeth over their lifetime. They may lose teeth as the result
of dental decay, traumatic injuries to the facial region, or through extraction due to
inherent difficulties with the tooth.
Dental implants represent one of the more effective ways to replace missing teeth. They
provide a permanent solution that functions as close to a real tooth as possible.
The purpose of a dental implant is to restore both the function and form of a missing tooth
within the mouth. These implants are designed to last for years, and many patients
continue to have successful implants for the remainder of their lives.
The drawback with traditional implants is that they require
a decent amount of bone structure. Patients may need to
undergo planning or bone grafting to provide more support
for the anchor. Some patients may have too much bone
loss to make traditional dental implants viable.
Mini implants, as their name suggests, are a smaller
version of their traditional counterparts. They are less
invasive and can often be restored on the same day.
One major difference between traditional dental implants
and mini implants is the fact that mini implants are about
half the diameter of traditional ones. This smaller size
offers many advantages:
At Hudson Valley Dental Care, we are always on the lookout for anything that will help
us give our patients the best dental care we possibly can. Cone beam dental
radiography is one of those things, and we are very excited to be able to offer it to our
patients.
Also, when you talk about x-rays, radiation is always a concern. So, you will be happy
to hear that radiation from digital X-rays can be as little as 10 percent of what patients
would be exposed to with film-based radiography.
