Welcome to the 2019 México Salary Guide
The competition for talent has never been fiercer. With a rapidly-changing workforce demographic, the introduction of new
technologies, low unemployment, and company growth—the reality is that, right now, the job market in Mexico is sizzling hot
and the most talented people can pick the companies and opportunities they want. It’s a candidate’s market, and as a result,
every industry is adapting to the needs of the modern environment by looking for new ways to lure top talent and keep them.

The employment outlook for Mexico remains with steady growth for the first and second quarters of 2019 and slowing into
the third and fourth quarters, according to Trading Economics and most experts. Some of the hottest sectors are transporta-
tion, communication, manufacturing, agriculture, fishing, services, and mining sectors, in that order. Employment growth is
strongest in the Northwest, Northeast, Bajio region and Central Mexico, including Mexico City. Unemployment is at a low of
3.60% while inflation is at a three-year low at 3.94%. However, there are some risks with the USMCA pending approval in the
U.S. congress, Mexico’s doubling of the minimum wage along the northern border and the lack of clarity with respect to labor
reform and the role unions will play under the new rules. Tools like the 22nd edition of our Mexico Salary Guide equip you with
the most accurate salary data for assessing the strength of your pay rates so you stay ahead of the competition by offering the
right salaries to the right people. Likewise, our guide provides employees with the compensation information they need to
compare their salaries and find out what they’re worth. At Barbachano International, we understand the importance of recrui-
ting and the return on investment that top talent can deliver for you. With 27 years in the industry, we know firsthand how
important it is for an organization to have the best and brightest to achieve its business objectives. We help you avoid painful
hiring mistakes and reduce turnover by identifying top performers for your team that result in long-term success. We’re
confident this valuable resource—and our partnership—will help you get ahead in 2019 and beyond.

Sincerely,
Fernando Ortiz-Barbachano
PRESIDENT & CEO

ABOUT OUR SALARY GUIDE
THE DATA
The 2019 Mexico Salary Guide by Barbachano International, Inc. is designed to help our
clients and professional candidates determine appropriate compensation for their professio-
nal positions and job openings in Mexico. It can be used as a reference guide to determine
appropriate compensation for new hires.

The data presented in the guide has been carefully researched by our Barbachano Interna-
tional Staff and is based on:

• Candidate interviews
• Internal candidate database salary information
• Job order and client salary data
• Job placements
• Conducted Mexico Salary Surveys

This data is not scientific and for some position titles is based on limited salary data. The data
includes annual salary only and does not include bonuses, commissions, or other benefits. All
salaries are in U.S. dollar denominations and are rounded to the nearest hundred. The
salaries have been compiled resulting in ranges from low–mid–high in U.S. dollars. A current
exchange rate of $19.10 pesos per $1 U.S. dollar has been considered. The average company
surveyed is mid to large size and the data is based primarily on larger metropolitan cities.

ABOUT OUR SALARY GUIDE
SALARY RANGE DETERMINATION
Determining salary ranges for your specific location may be affected by many factors inclu-
ding company size, benefits, location within Mexico, educational requirements, local unem-
ployment rates, specific industry, etc.

For smaller cities in Mexico, salary ranges must be adjusted, as the cost of living is generally
10 to 15% lower. Professional level salaries in Mexico border cities are generally 10% to 25%
higher than non-border cities. Salaries in Mexico border cities are sometimes affected by U.S.
dollar indexation practices for key management positions.

If you require a more precise Salary Range for any professional level position in Mexico or you wish
to have a Mexico employment expert determine competitive compensation packages, please call
Barbachano International at (619) 427-2310 or email us at barbachano@bipsearch.com

ABOUT US

Barbachano International, Inc. (BIP) was founded in 1992 to help multi-national companies cope with their
recruitment needs and human resource problems in Mexico. As our client’s human capital needs grew not only in
Mexico but also in the United States and our clients expanded to South America, we introduced new solutions to
satisfy their needs. In addition to recruitment & executive search, we introduced executive coaching and outplace-
ment through our sister company, Challenger Gray & Christmas S.C. Although much has changed since we started
a quarter century ago, “helping people and companies grow” remains our mission. We believe that people are at
the center of our client’s success and that the war on talent requires an expert who understands our client’s
business, cares about recruiting, developing and retaining the best and brightest, and becomes a trusted advisor.

Our solutions are aimed at companies with multi-cultural workforces, Spanish-speaking markets or Mexico and
Latin American business involvement. Directly and through our partners we have Mexico offices in Mexico City,
Tijuana, Reynosa, and in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador and
Paraguay. Our reach is global and includes North, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. We are
headquartered in San Diego, California.

Today, Barbachano International is the marketplace leader for human capital solutions in Mexico. We offer top
recruiting, executive search, executive coaching and outplacement. Our expertise has been built by providing high
impact leaders and HR support to over 200 successful start-up operations in Mexico and the completion of over
5000 successful marriages between companies and people. Barbachano International has been recognized by
FORBES to America's Best Executive Recruiting Firms list in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and currently ranks as the 34th
best from over 18,000 Recruiting Firms.

Barbachano International uses a search approach which relies on a proprietary process based “search methodolo-
gy” and a business model using functional specialty niche and industry practice leaders. The industries we service
in our search division include manufacturing, technology, software, life sciences, private equity, energy, telecom,
consumer goods, chemicals, retail and other sectors. Our manufacturing expertise includes automotive, aerospa-
ce, medical devices, plastics, electronics, metals fabrication, and food processing, amongst others.
