Ontario Secondary School Diploma  (2012)

I attended Taylor's College Canadian Pre-University programme for my

diploma studies majoring in Business. From there, I realised I am passionate in
my Financial Accounting Principles’ subject. I was always excited for my
accounting classes and did really well in both my assignments and finals which
I scored 95%.

For my accounting assignment, I had to prepare a Business Report

on Quiksilver Inc. as I was a Financial Analyst working for a major investment
advisory firm. My manager has tasked me to analyze Quiksilver Inc. and advise
her whether I would recommend this company as a good investment for an
investor, and the reasons why or why not.

I have therefore advised my manager that Quiksilver Inc. is not a good

investment for an investor even though the brand is quite renowned. This is
because their 2011’s annual report is very disappointing and they are running
their business on long-term debt. All their shareholders have experienced an
unfortunate loss per share of $0.13 in 2011 and did not received any dividends.
Furthermore, for 5 consecutive years, Quiksilver Inc.’s has been experiencing
not only loss per share but also net losses. Their net loss in 2011 had increased
by $11,574 thousands compared to 2010’s net loss.

From this assignment, I have learned to analyse companies’ financial

reports, understood the mechanism and formulas to calculate and decide if
it is a profitable investment opportunity. Henceforth, after taking this
subject, I have aspired to be an auditor and slowly progress to a senior manager
in any of the Big Four accounting firms. After gaining the required experience,
I planned to go commercial and work in the finance department of any
esteemed corporations.

Lastly, after undertaking the Canadian Pre-U course which was 70%
assessed by assignments such as presentations and debates, I am
more confident, outspoken and my communication skills have improved
tremendously.

CPU Certificates

University (2013 – 2015)

After graduating from Taylor’s CPU, I decided to study Victoria

I have also obtained a Grade Point Average of 6.19/7 for my past two years
of studies. My completed accounting subjects comprise of Accounting for Decision
Making, Accounting Information Systems, Management Accounting and Financial
Accounting. These subjects have allowed me to be familiarise in preparing
management reports that will help senior management to control routine and non-
routine business performance; communicate the information contained in the
management reports and make suggestions about possible corrective action; and
have an understanding of the relevant professional, legal and conceptual
requirements associated with aspects of the preparation of external financial reports
for publicly listed Australian companies.

 Academic Transcript

Besides that, thanks to VU’s Professional Development 1, I have built up

my character with good leadership and analytical traits. This course has also
helped me to develop skills in problem solving, critical thinking and
collaborative working necessary for professional and academic learning through
group and teamwork, team-based projects, interactive class-based activities and
using a case study approach to business issues. As a people person, I am very much
a team player, I am always open to unique ideas and solutions when it comes to
brainstorming and mind-mapping for our assignments’ issues. I love to work in
groups rather than individually therefore by working in teams, I get to share my
strong points while also learning from my group mates.

Moreover, in my Accounting for Decision Making subject, I obtained 14%

out of 15% for the group assignment and later scored 90% in the finals. As our
lecturer was in-charged of assigning us our group mates, one international student
who was weak in this subject was allocated to us. As the group leader, I learned to
be patient when guiding and explaining to him the assignment and also checking
on his work progress to ensure he is on the right track. We were to monitor the
performance of David Jones Ltd (DJS), Qantas Airways Limited (QAN) and
Telstra Corporation Ltd (TLS) shares and the overall performance of the Australian
share-market during the tracking period to see if we are able to maximize the value
of our share portfolio. At first it was not easy working together because of language
barrier but I got to improve my communication skills further as we worked out
everything and he even did very well in his finals.

 Accounting for Decision Making

For my final year of degree studies which I am currently undergoing, I

managed to obtain a place as one of the three exchange student selected to study
at Victoria University, Melbourne. As I will be representing Sunway College’s VU,
I was interviewed by Ms Greeja De Silva, Head of the Australian University
Programme, Ms Irene Teoh, Assistant Head of the Australian University
Programme, Ms Lee Phaik Im, Assistant Manager and the final decision was made
by VU Melbourne. I had to meet both academic and co-curricular criteria to show
I was worthy of this opportunity.
 MICHELLE LEE Exchange Offer Letter

This semester, I will be studying Corporate Accounting and will henceforth

learn in detail the importance and effects of foreign exchange gain or loss to a
company, recording transactions for companies in order to produce external
financial reports required under regulatory and conceptual frameworks and also
critically evaluate the accounting concepts and theories underlying corporate
reporting in their relevance to addressing emerging and complex issues in corporate
accounting. This course will definitely bring me closer to my future career as
an auditor and I have also planned to work at a multinational firm.
