Grading Policy:
I highly suggest that every student and parent take advantage of using Student Portal and Parent Portal.
This allows you to always be up to date on assignments and grades.

Please take note of the following explanation for grade markings:

 If an “X” is in the grade spot, the student is NOT required to complete the work.
 If a “Z” is in the grade spot, the student is still able to complete the assignment within one
week.
 If a “0” is in the grade spot, the student is NOT allowed to do the assignment and the zero is the
final grade.

Course Overview
We will be learning and introducing new topics this year. The modules we will be focusing on are:
Points, Lines, Planes Triangles
Angles and Intro to Polygons Right Triangles
Rigid Transformations and Symmetry Quadrilaterals
Non-rigid Transformation, Congruence, and Circles
Similarity Three-Dimensional Geometry

Grading
 Tests and Quizzes will make up 70% of your quarter grade to show mastery of the material.
 Homework and Classwork will make up 30% of your grade
 There will be an exam at the end of EACH semester. The exam will be worth 15% of your
TOTAL grade.

Grade Recovery
Grade recovery is offered within the same 9-week period only. If you are ever concerned
about your grade talk to me. Our discussion will determine the best course of action
toward grade recovery.
Test/ Quizzes/Exams
Tests and quizzes need to be made up as quickly as possible. They go in the gradebook as a “Z” when
you miss the test day. I am available many days after school for help, and for students to makeup
tests/quizzes they missed due to absences. Please make prior arrangements with me to avoid any
conflicts.

Homework/Classwork
Homework: You must complete all the problems and show work where necessary to receive full
credit. I know when there should be work shown. I will not accept late work.
Class Work: This includes, but is not limited to, worksheets, book work, group work, warm-ups and
activities.
Notes: Notes are for you to use while solving problems on your own in class or while you are doing your
homework. Although notes are not graded, you are expected to take them.
***Cheating is not tolerated for ANY assignment. If a student cheats on a quiz or test, he or she will
receive a zero.

Help after school

I am available after school from 2:00 – 2:35 (except on Tuesday’s). Students can come to the
classroom for extra help or to work on assignments. Please check with me first in case I have a parent
conference to attend that day.

Attendance
Your success in school is highly dependent on your presence in class.

Tardies: At 3 tardies for the semester, you will receive a detention notice. For every tardy after that, it
will be a written a referral.

Absences can be your worst enemy. It is your responsibility to request the work you miss due to
absence. Check my website for homework information. You have the number of days absent plus 2
days to complete the work and turn it in. Note: After your 3rd unexcused absence for the semester, I
reserve the right to deny you the make-up work. Also, please realize that after 10 unexcused absences
for the semester, you run the risk of being denied credit for the class.

Restroom/Clinic Pass: You get 3 bathroom “passes” per nine weeks (Unused passes are extra credit!).
Wait for an appropriate time to raise your hand and asked to be excused. Time between classes is when
you are to use the restroom. If you need to go see the nurse, raise your hand and I will give you a clinic
pass. ***If you abuse it, you will lose it!

****We will be using Schoology this year. We will learn to use this management system to turn in
homework and get assignments that may be missed due to absences.
