Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 - One of the main reasons I did not study English before is because I did not have a
cell phone or laptop to download the English files.

- Another reason is that virtual courses were very difficult to handle.

- Another reason is that he did not have money to pay for classes in English.

- A fourth reason is that I was not encouraged to continue because I was too busy
looking for work.

- And the last reason is that I did not have Internet in my house to continue.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago, I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

- If I had learned English earlier, I would have passed many exams with the best
marks.

- My pronunciation was not very good, if I had learned fluency in English 5 years ago, I
would have job options in many places.

- If I had been very interested in learning English, I would have studied in another
country with expert teachers, since I did not have enough money to travel.

- Another reason is that he had no experience speaking with people who speak
English.

- And finally, if they had learned English, I would talk to the teachers in English on any
subject.
B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

- I study English to improve my pronunciation and fluency.

- He studied English to get opportunities at work.
- He studied English to learn more about the language.
- I am studying English because I want to understand the words in
another language.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more

satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.

Studying the English Language helps to have opportunities to get a

satisfying and well-paid job. Since English is the language most used
for work. It can help me in my profession as a systems technician and
throughout my life.
