3. Remove transport protection
If the machine equips an automatic junk option the transport protection has to be
removed (mind the picture on the left). Otherwise the junk motor could be damaged and
an optimal operation of the automatic junk option can’t be guaranteed.

4. Locking of the GBS 9403 SS

The GBS 9403 SS is locked witch two locks. Both locks are on the front side of the
machine. Die Verriegelung der GBS 9403 SS erfolgt durch zwei Halbzylinderschlösser.
Beide dieser Schlösser sind an der Vorderseite zugänglich.

To open the upper cover press the cover lightly down and open the upper lock. The
cover opens with a little help itself. A telescope fixes the cover in its position.
To close the upper cover, close the lock first. Then close the cover within a lightly
pressing until the lock snaps.

CAUTION: Before working at opened cover control the telescope on its function.
(risk of injury!)

The lower lock closes the door of the coin wagon. The door can be opened to the left
side (max. 130°). If the door will be opened too far (more then 130°) the hinge can be
damaged).

5. Cleaning of the GBS 9403 SS
As the GBS 9403 SS is a high-tech-machine with sensitive sensors, it’s absolutely
essential to maintain it. This grants a long life span that’s free from interference.

We recommend following terms of cleaning:

♦ A quick cleaning daily (capture 5.2)

♦ A total cleaning with every container change (capture 5.3)
♦ Depending on the frequentation of the GBS 9403 SS we suggest 1 to 2 services
every year. (capture 5.4)

5.1 Cleaning set

The Cleaning-Set of the GBS 9403 SS (mind the picture on the

left) is delivered with every new machine.

It consists of:

♦ A cleaning cloth
♦ A little spatula
♦ A cleaning brush
♦ 125ml cleaning benzine (special benzine 80/110 taxed,
EG-Nr.: 649-328-00-1)

5.2 Quick cleaning

The quick cleaning takes approximately 1 minute and is easy to carry out. Please turn
off the machine! The picture on the left shows the interior view of the GBS 9403 SS.
The yellow marked area should be cleaned with the help of the brush from the cleaning
set.

Page 8
5.3 Total cleaning
The total cleaning takes approximately 5 to 10
minutes. All parts of the cleaning set will be needed.
Please turn off the machine! To start off, clean the
yellow marked area with the brush (see Quick
Cleaning, chapter 5.2). Afterwards remove possible
persistent arrears of dirt with the spatula from the
cleaning set.
The next step is to moisten the cleaning cloth with
the benzine to clean the yellow marked area (see
Quick cleaning, chapter 5.2) as well as the hopper
(= the emphasized part of the picture on the left).

5.4 Service

The Service is carried out by a technical expert from the according company. The
service, which takes approximately 1 to 2 hours, includes an internal and external
cleaning. If required, the machine will be adjusted and the parts of consumption will be
renewed. The following tasks have to be carried out:

♦ Cleaning the machine with a hoover

♦ Check all boards and cables (right connection)
♦ Check justage of junk
♦ Check justage of escrow
♦ Check switches (bag, cointray, service, security)
♦ Hopper cleaning
♦ Convayor belt cleaning
♦ Dismantle and clean coin disk
♦ Clean plate of the coin disk
♦ Clean the outlet track
♦ Solenoid test
♦ Sensor test
♦ Check voltages
♦ Clean and test printer
♦ Check screws

Page 9
5.5 Automatic cleaning system (ACS Æ Junk)
If the equipment of the machine includes the
Automatic-Cleaning-System (ACS), the coin disc
will be removed from the hopper automatically,
after every counting process. Not transportable
objects like, bent and/or damaged coins or paper
clips are removed from the hopper and emptied
into the shelf on the left side of the machine.
Those objects can be removed there. The time
the machine needs to reach the two end
positions will be supervised during the cleaning
process.

6. Internal printer

Format of paper:
Thermal paper 60mm width

If an error occurs while printing on the internal

thermal printer (the printing of every single
symbol is supervised) the following message
will be shown:
PROBLEM WITH PRINTER
Please contact staff

Check paper entry and cables!

6.1 Change paper

To change the paper, press forward the blue lever (horizontal)
afterwards insert the paper and press the lever until the start
position is reached again (vertical).
If the automatic paper feeder is used, the paper should be (after
inserting and cutting) adjusted by using the lever. Afterwards press
the lever until its start position is reached again.

PRINTER Note: Please mind that the paper

should be inserted with the
temperature-sensitive side up!
If there is a problem with cutting the paper, it probably can’t
be transported through the determined device.
THERMALPAPER Solution for the problem: Cutting the thermal paper to size.

Note: Do not cut in too much, for otherwise the paper-near-

end sensors won’t react any more!

10.8.1. Description of the different modes (mode 0 to 8)

Mode 0
No expenses have to be paid!
FIXUM = 0, MINIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE=0, MAXIMUM = 0

Mode 1
A fix rate independent of the counting result has to be paid.
FIXUM ≠ 0, MINIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE=0, MAXIMUM = 0
e.g.: FIXUM = 1.5 MINIMUM=0, PERCENTAGE = 0, MAXIMUM = 0
There is always the same charge of 1.5 EUR, independent of the counting result.
To adapt a. (comma) press the SHIFT-button!

Mode 2
A predetermined percentage (option PERCENTAGE) of the counting result has to be
paid.
FIXUM = 0, MINIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0, MAXIMUM = 0

Page 16
Mode 3
The same as mode 2, but an upper limit is determined additionally. That means that if
the percentage of the counting result exceeds the upper limit, only this „maximum
charge“ has to be paid.
FIXUM = 0, MINIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0, MAXIMUM ≠ 0

Mode 4
Up to the counting result limit MINIMUM the customer has to pay a predetermined
charge, if the limit is passed, a predetermined percentage (option PERCENTAGE) has
to be paid. If the percentage of the counting result exceeds the upper limit (MAXIMUM),
only this “maximum charge” has to be paid.
FIXUM ≠ 0, MINIMUM ≠ 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0, MAXIMUM ≠ 0

Mode 5
Up to the counting result limit MINIMUM the customer has to pay a predetermined
charge, if the limit is passed, a predetermined percentage has to be paid. There is no
“maximum charge”!
FIXUM ≠ 0, MINIMUM ≠ 0, MAXIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0

Mode 6
Up to a predetermined amount (option MINIMUM) no charge has to be paid.
If the amount exceeds the MINIMUM limit the customer has to pay a certain percentage.
There is no „maximum charge”!
FIXUM = 0, MINIMUM ≠ 0, MAXIMUM = 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0

Mode 7
Up to a predetermined amount (option MINIMUM) no charge has to be paid.
If the amount exceeds the MINIMUM limit, a determined percentage (option
PERCENTAGE) which lies between the MINIMUM and the MAXIMUM limit of the
counting result has to be paid. If the percentage of the counting result exceeds the
upper limit (option MAXIMUM), only this “maximum charge” has to be paid.
FIXUM = 0, MINIMUM ≠ 0, MAXIMUM ≠ 0, PERCENTAGE≠ 0

Mode 8
Up to a certain limit a fix rate independent of the counting result has to be paid. If the
amount exceeds that limit another fix rate has to be paid.
To set this mode, enter the following fix rates:
Fix rate 1 = FIXUM, Fix rate 2 = PERCENTAGE, LIMIT = MINIMUM =
MAXIMUM

That mean, that the values for MINIMUM and MAXIMUM have to be identical and
dissimilar 0!
e.g.: up to 50 EUR, 1 EUR are charged, from 50 EUR, 2 EUR are charged.
Settings: FIXUM=1, PERCENTAGE=2, MINIMUM=50, MAXIMUM=50

Page 17
10.9 Stop-Mode
You can choose when the machine should STOP-MODE
stop, either when it has reached a
predetermined number of pieces or when it by pieces by weight
has reached a predetermined weight.

10.12 Traylock (optional)

The coin-tray-lock can be activated. That is useful if the machine should be temporarily
locked without turning it off (e.g. during the lunch break).

10.13 External printer

This function is deactivated at the moment.

10.14 Search settlement

In this submenu, receipts which concern the emptying of the machine, can be searched
and printed. If there are several receipts with the same date, all of them will be
displayed beginning with the latest receipt. Moving within this selection is possible with

15.3 Print parameter
After the selection of one currency a print-out with the following data is made: coin
number, value, weight and parameters of all coins (from the chosen currency).

15.4 Tolerance auto.

With this option the learn process can be carried out much quicker. The parameters of
the coins can be expanded with help of a code. If the code is entered once, you just
have to determine the coin number, which should be expanded by auto tolerance.

In addition to the coin number, you can enter special data:

“30“ for all learned coins of both currencies
“31“ for all learned coins of currency 1
„32“ for all learned coins of currency 2

The frequency with which auto tolerance has been used will be shown on the parameter
print-out.

15.5 Edit coin

In a submenu the choice between: WEIGHT/VALUE and PARAMETERS is possible. If
you edit the parameters, you can choose the coin numbers by using the ←and →

CAUTION: After deleting a coin, the coin numbers will be displaced. The counter
for the actual content is no longer correct. Therefore you should make a
settlement before deleting coins.

In addition to the coin number, you can enter special data:

“31“ for all learned coins of currency 1
„32“ for all learned coins of currency 2

15.7 Test detection

Page 27
16. Programming of GBS 9403 SS
Before programming GBS 9403 SS some settings are to make:
♦ correct settings in configuration menu
♦ system reset in system menu (automatic calibration)
♦ save system data

Now the learning process can start:

♦ learn coin in coin menu (description in capture learn coin)
♦ print parameter in coin menu
♦ save system data in system menu
♦ tolerance auto in coin menu (2 times)
♦ print parameter
♦ remove eventual overlapping (edit params in coin menu)
♦ test counts
♦ save system data

If an overlapping occurs, the parameters between 2 coins crosses. The parameters are
to edit manually. At the parameter printout these 2 coins are to compare.

As you can see all parameters cross. The range of overlapping at parameter 1 is only 1
point. So it is necessary to edit this parameter to remove the overlapping. The lowest
space between two coins should be 2 to 3 points at least.
