All questions carry equal marks

1. Draw a vernier (backword vernier) scale of R.F 1/25 to read centimeters upto 4 meters
and on it show lengths representing 2.38m and 1.95m
2. Construct an ellipse, with distance of the focus from the directrix as 50 mm and
eccentricity as 2/3. Also draw normal and tangent to the curve at a point 40 mm
from the directrix.
3. A fixed point F is 7.5 cm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point P
moving in such a way that its distance from the fixed straight line is 3/2 times its
distance from F. Name the curve. Draw normal and tangent at a point 6 cm from
F.
4. A circle of 50 mm diameter rolls on a straight line without slipping. In the initial
position, the diameter AB of the circle is parallel to the line, on which it rolls.
Draw the loci of the points A and B for one revolution of the circle.
5. A circle of 80 mm diameter rolls on another circle of 200mm diameter with
internal contact. Draw the locus of a point on the circumference of rolling circle
for its one complete revolution.
6. An inelastic string, 75 mm long has its one end attached to the circumference of a
circular disc of 40 mm diameter. Draw the curve traced out by the other end of the
string, when it is completely wound around the disc, keeping the string always
tight.

Answer any 4 questions

All questions carry equal marks

1. Draw a scale of 1: 60 to show meters and decimeters and long enough to measure
upto 6 meters. Mark 3.7m on the scale
2. The major axis of an ellipse is 150 mm long and the minor axis is 100 mm long.
Find the foci and draw the ellipse by ‘arcs of circles’ method. Draw a tangent to
the ellipse at a point on it 25 mm above the major axis.
3. A point P is 30mm and 50mm respectively from two straight lines which are at
right angles to each other. Draw a rectangular hyperbola from P within 10mm
distance from each line.
4. Construct a cycloid, given the diameter of the generating circle is 40mm. Draw a
tangent to the curved at a point on it 30mm from the line.
5. Draw a straight line AB of any length. Mark a point F, 65mm from AB. Trace the
paths of a point P moving in such a way, that the ratio of its distance from the
point F, to its distance from AB is 1. Draw a normal and a Tangent to the curve at
a point on it, 50mm from F.
6. An inelastic string 155mm long, has its one end attached to the circumference of a
circular disc of 40mm diameter. Draw the curve traced out by the other end of the
string, when it is completely wound around the disc, keeping the string always
tight. Draw a normal and a tangent on the curve at a point 85 mm from the centre
of the circle.

Answer any 4 questions

All questions carry equal marks

1. Construct an ellipse with major diameter and minor diameter is 180mm and 120
mm respectively by either Oblong Method or Concentric Circles Method
2. Draw an epi-cycloid of a circle of 40mm diameter, which rolls outside on another
circle of 120mm diameter for one revolution clock-wise. Draw a tangent and a
normal to it at a point 90mm from the centre of the directing circle.
3. Two straight lines OA and OB make an angle of 750 between them. P is a point 40
mm from OA and 50 mm from OB. Draw a hyperbola through P, with OA and
OB as asymptotes, making at least ten points.
4. The vertex of a hyperbola is 65 mm from its focus. Draw the curve if the
eccentricity is 3/2. Draw a normal and tangent at a point on the curve, 75 mm
from the directrix.
5. The distance between Bombay and Poona is 180km. a passenger train covers this
distance in 6 hrs. Construct a plain scale to measure time upto a single minute.
The R.F of the scale is 1/200000. Find the distance covered by the train in 36
minutes.
6. i)A point P is 15 mm above the H.P and 20 m in front of the V.P. another point Q
is 25mm behind the V.P and 40mm below the H.P. Draw projections of P and Q
keeping the distance between their projectors equal to 90mm. Draw straight lines
joining (i) their top views and (ii) their front views.
ii) Two points A and B are in the H.P. the point A is 30 mm in front of the V.P.,
while B is behind the V.P. the distance between their projectors is 75mm and the
line joining their top views makes an angle of 45 0 with XY. Find the distance of
the point B from the V.P.
