DepEd NCR School-Based Management (SBM): On Spotlight

The Department of Education – National Capital Region supports the D.O. 83, s.
2012 entitled “Implementing Guidelines on the Revised School-Based Management (SBM)
Framework, Assessment Process and Tool (APAT)”.
To further strengthen the SBM practice and to give emphasis on the learner-centered
education and the involvement of basic education service delivery, DeEd-NCR through Field
Technical Assistance Division conducted several workshops and orientation on SBM which
started with Development of contextualized SBM Tools on November 20-22, 2017. The
contextualized SBM Tools was first validated by the selected school principals on November 22,
2018. There were two on-site validation happened on February 15, 2018 at Melencio Castelo
Elementary School, Quezon City, as well as April 20, 2018 at F. Maria Guerrero Elementary
School, Manila. The tools were tried out to selected schools in 16 schools division from May to
July 12, 2018. After the try-out, there was a need to polish the tools, hence Refinement of
Contextualized SBM Tools cum Development of Its User Manual followed on July 17-19, 2018.
Refinement of the contextualized SBM Tools and Its User Manual continued on October 13-17,
2018.
On November 27-29, 2017, a 3-day Orientation on Identification, Confirmation, and
Documentation of Best Practices for SBM was conducted to assist the schools divisions on the
proper process of selection, identification, as well as documentation of SBM best practices.
Additional two supervisors underwent to the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP)
Basic Training Batch 3 on March 12-16, 2018.
To showcase one of the activities of SBM, Gala of Best Practices on School-to-School
Partnership held on March 19, 2018.
Series of Planning / Collaboration Meeting for the Regional SBM & CI Showcase of Best
Practices cum Launching of Compendium with the SGOD/CID Chiefs, Division SBM
Coordinators, and Division CI Coordinators was held from July to October 2018.
Finally, the long awaited activity will come into realization, the Regional SBM and CI
Showcase of Best Practices cum Launching of Its Compendium will be on deck on October 18,
2018.
Truly, short cut process is definitely not on the list of SBM.
