Data Collection
If required, data can be collected through various sources. Information can be collected by
interviewing, researching, print source like books, magazines, encyclopedias etc. etc.
Selecting the key points.

After gathering the information needed for your project, read through them with the theme in
your mind and select the relevant points. The following questions can help you in selecting the
key points.

Is the information current and error free?
Is the source convincing enough for you to justify?

Make notes carefully and systematically as the notes you make are a record of your research. It
helps you to remain focused on the topic. Always remember to sort and record the details
according to the structure that you have in your mind for your “RARE”

Academic research requires you to credit your sources and share with the readers the exact origin
of your information. So before taking down notes you must record the following information
about each source.

Title of the article or book
Name of the magazine or journal
Place of publication of the book
Publisher of the book
Publication date
Exact page or pages where the information is found.
For electronic source:
Author name if available
Title of the article or work
Date and location of original publication.
Date of electronic publication as well as date when the document was accessed
Page, paragraphs or section number if available
