The Seminar started with an opening prayer. Ma’am Venus V. Lamadrid, the first
speaker discussed Interactive Powerpoint Presentation. Ma’am Lamadrid begin her
presentation by giving the objectives for the training. She also discussed the What’s,
How’s and Why’s of Interactive Powerpoint Presentation.
Session Objectives:
1. Distinguish between Interactive and Non-Interactive Powerpoint Presentation
2. Regard the importance of making Powerpoint presentations interactive
3. Create Interactive PowerPoint presentations
She started her discussion by presenting slides and she let the participants identified if it
is classified as Interactive PPT or Non-interactive PPT. Then, she presented the
difference between Interactive and Non-interactive PPT. Non-interactive Powerpoint
Presentation is a presentation of slides with tons of text and gives no chance to the
audience to really participate in. On the other hand, Interactive Powerpoint Presentation
enables the students to participate.
Ma’am Lamadrid presented the view of Constructivist Theory. According to this theory,
“They are more active on the creation of meaning and knowledge. This leads to a more
student centered approach in which the student guides his own learning.”
Powers of Animation
Powers of Insertion
Powers of Hyperlinking
The Power of Insertion is use to prompt the learner to ask relevant questions,
that is to engage, interact with the text, not just to be passive. It will enable the learners
to be actively engaged. It also promotes Comprehension, a slide can be inserted with
Smartart, Shapes it can be call outs or Action buttons.
1. Click Insert
2. Click Shapes
3. Choose Action buttons (scroll to the lowermost)
4. Insert or ready the slide where the action leads
5. Test for Trial
6. Copy paste to save time
Furthermore, you may insert to teach a technique how to comprehend a reading text
that is to look for keywords. These are the steps:
1. Click Insert
2. Click Shapes
3. Chose Rectangle
4. Draw it to the length and size of the keywords
5. Click Animations
Objectives:
Understand the conceptsof LMS
Construct course to Schoology
Create an online classroom
Sir Acunin allowed us to make an account in Schoology so that we can access the
system and explore the different features of this LMS. He gave instructions while the
participants are following the steps one by one.
Teachers may conduct online examination through this LMS. You may modify the
settings that you want depending upon your choice. You may choose to randomize the
questions so that it will be arranged differently for the students. Same content but
different arrangement. Ma’am Venus shared her thoughts that if that would be the case,
the only thing concerned is that, the questions will not be arranged anymore from easy
to difficult because it’s randomize.
Moreover, this LMS allow teachers to check the test paper of the students after the
examination. In Schoology, it will be easier for teachers because you will no longer
check the test papers, you will just upload the Key to Correction and the System will
automatically check the test papers. According to Sir Acunin, he considers it one of the
great features of Schoology. In terms of conducting examination or quizzes with this
LMS, you may set a time limit and once the time is up, it will automatically submit the
test or quiz of the students.
Ma’am Anita Recodo and Sir Joel Allaga served as the last speakers for the
Seminar. Ma’am Recodo gave a brief introductory talk about Video Lesson and for more
information, she presented video clips discussing step by step process of making video
lesson.
The Video is divided into three parts. The Planning phase, Production phase and
Post-production phase.
1. Planning Phase – this part will help us save time when we are in the
production phase.
a. Write a script ahead of time. It will serve as your guide and the information
you are going to say is already structured and you may refrain from sying
irrelevant information.
b. Preparing the equipment you need to use
2. Production Phase – this is the part where you shoot and film your video.
a. Equipment Check, prepare the devices you need to use such as camera
and microphone.
3. Post-production Phase – it refers to the editing phase, the part where we
polish things and cut out the part of the video that is unnecessary.
After presenting the videos, Ma’am Recodo welcomed sir Joel as the next
speaker to discuss the technical aspects of Video editing.
Sir Joel presented video clips about Camera Angles and Lightings. There are
different camera angles that we may consider in shooting our Video and proper lightings
that we may apply to create a presentable and engaging Video Lesson. Sir Allaga
presented one of the video editor application which is Kinemaster. He sent each one a
copy of the application so that everyone can follow as he discussed the features of this
application. He discussed the initial steps on making a video with the use of this
application and applied different animations, transitions and backgrounds to make it
engaging and interesting for the students. Kinemaster application is more creative than
other video editor application. According to sir Allaga, we need to unleash the creativity
within you when filming or shooting a video. He also encourages the participants not to
settle in simplicity if there’s a way to make a better video.
There are various online platforms that may aid teachers in teaching the
students. As a teacher of 21 st Century, it is a must for us to be able to maximize the use
of technology for us to attain effective teaching and learning. That concludes the fruitful
3- Day Capacity Building Seminar for teachers.
