SOFTWARE — MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. Modular Avionics Unit / Modular Radio Cabinet — Software Loading (Full Load)
A. General
This procedure provides instructions for a full load for the Master Operating System (MOS) software
/ databases. The MOS software / databases are loaded to modules or Line Replaceable Units
(LRUs) of the Modular Avionics Unit (MAU) / Modular Radio Cabinet (MRC).
Prior training in performing a software load procedure on an aircraft is required.
A full load is necessary when new Primus Epic software is available or when one or all of the
following have been updated:
• Operational Software
• Aircraft Personality Module (APM) settings and rigging
• APM options
• Aerodynamics-Engine Database (AEDB)
• Integrated Navigation Data Services (INDS) navigation, charts, terrain, envelope modulation
or terrain threat databases
• FMS Takeoff and Landing Data (TOLD)
• Electronic Checklist (ECL) database
• Communication Management Function (CMF) / Airline Modifiable Information (AMI)
• Loadable Diagnostic Information (LDI) / Aircraft Configuration Monitoring Function (ACMF)
database
• Programmable CAS message database
New software / databases or updates are typically available on the following media:
• Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash drive or memory stick
• Compact Disks (CD)
Current INDS databases are available and may be downloaded from the INDS website.
This system contains ESD sensitive components. Ensure all ESD safety precautions and practices
are followed while performing maintenance. See Electrostatic Discharge - Standard Practices,

A. General
This procedure provides instructions for a target load the Master Operating System (MOS) software
/ databases. The MOS software / databases are target loaded to a module or Line Replaceable Unit
(LRU) under the following conditions:
• Modular Avionics Unit (MAU) modules removed and replaced
• Modular Radio Cabinet (MRC) Network Interface Module (NIM) removed and replaced
• Full load errors which may be corrected through target load
Prior training in performing a software load procedure on an aircraft is required.
Software / databases are typically available on the following media:
• Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash drive or memory stick
• Compact Disks (CD)
Current Integrated Navigation Data Services (INDS) databases are available and may be
downloaded from the INDS website.
This system contains ESD sensitive components. Ensure all ESD safety precautions and practices
are followed while performing maintenance. See Electrostatic Discharge - Standard Practices,
