ENGINE FIRE PULL HANDLES — REMOVAL / INSTALLATION


1. Engine Fire Pull Handle — Removal / Installation
A. General
The fire pull handles are located on the upper left and right side of the pedestal. The procedures for
the engine fire pull handles are similar. Only left procedure is given.
B. Preparation
SPECIAL TOOLS AND TEST EQUIPMENT

(2) Aircraft Preparation
(a) Prepare aircraft for safe ground maintenance. See Safe Ground Maintenance
Procedure, 20-00-00, Maintenance Practices.
(b) Remove electrical power from aircraft. See External Electrical Power Application,
20-20-10, Maintenance Practices.
(c) Pull, tag and install safety clips on the following Circuit Breakers (CB):

FIRE EXT SHOT #2 REER ENGINE SYS / CTLS

CAUTION: ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED WITH LABELS


PRIOR TO REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SYSTEM DAMAGE
WHEN CONNECTED.
(d) Disconnect, insulate and make accessible the following electrical connectors:
NOTE: See Engine Fire Bottle - Removal / Installation, 26-21-03, Removal /
Installation or Code 262020 and / or APU Fire Bottle - Removal / Installation,
26-22-00, Removal / Installation or Code 262030 for location and specific
removal instructions.

(e) If necessary, remove Multifunction Control Display Unit (MCDU) No. 1 for left fire
handle and MCDU No. 2 for right fire handle. See Multifunction Control Display Unit -
Removal / Installation, 34-60-03, Removal / Installation or Code 346001.
C. Removal
WARNING: FIRE BOTTLES CONTAIN MATERIAL UNDER HIGH PRESSURE. RUPTURE OF A
DIAPHRAGM, BY EXPLOSIVE MEANS, RELEASES THIS MATERIAL IN A
VIOLENT MANNER. BOTH MATERIAL RELEASED AND EXPLOSIVE
CARTRIDGE ARE HAZARDOUS IF NOT PROPERLY HANDLED.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO OBSERVE ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE PROCEDURES MAY
CAUSE DAMAGE TO SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED WITH LABELS PRIOR TO
REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SYSTEM DAMAGE WHEN CONNECTED.
NOTE: The following numbers in parentheses ( ) are used in conjunction with Figure 401.
(1) Remove screws (4) securing fire handle (1) to pedestal (7).
(2) Remove fire handle (1) from pedestal (7).
(3) Disconnect electrical connector (6) from fire handle (1).
CAUTION: FAILURE TO INSTALL PROPER PROTECTIVE CAPS AND PLUGS ON
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, LINES, TUBES, PORTS AND FITTINGS MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Install protective caps and plugs on all electrical connections.
(5) Remove screws (3) and washers (2) securing plate (5) to fire handle (1).
(6) Remove plate (5) from fire handle (1).

D. Installation

VIOLENT MANNER. BOTH MATERIAL RELEASED AND EXPLOSIVE

CAUSE DAMAGE TO SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
NOTE: The following numbers in parentheses ( ) are used in conjunction with Figure 401.
(1) Position plate (5) on fire handle (1).
(2) Secure plate (5) to fire handle (1) with screws (3) and washers (2).
(3) Remove protective caps and plugs from electrical connections.
(4) Connect electrical connector (6) to fire handle (1).
(5) Position fire handle (1) in pedestal (7).
(6) Secure fire handle (1) to pedestal (7) with screws (4).
E. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Remove safety clips, tags and depress circuit breakers pulled in Step 1.B.(2)(c).
(3) Perform Engine Fire Pull Handle - Functional Test, 26-21-05, Adjustment / Test or Code
262103.
(4) If removed, install MCDU. See Multifunction Control Display Unit - Removal / Installation,
34-60-03, Removal / Installation or Code 346001.
(5) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
