MAIN ENTRY DOOR — MAINTENANCE PRACTICES


1. Main Entrance Door — Operating Procedures
A. Preparation
(1) References

(2) Aircraft Preparation
(a) Prepare aircraft for safe ground maintenance. See Safe Ground Maintenance
Procedure, 20-00-00, Maintenance Practices.
WARNING: APPLYING ELECTRICAL POWER TO AIRCRAFT MAY CAUSE THE
FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES TO MOVE. FAILURE TO ENSURE
ALL PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF FLIGHT
CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE APPLYING ELECTRICAL POWER
MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH OR DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT.
(b) Apply electrical power to aircraft, as required. See Aircraft Electrical Power -
Application, 20-20-10, Maintenance Practices.
NOTE: The eMED will open on emergency battery power but will not close.
WARNING: APPLYING HYDRAULIC POWER TO AIRCRAFT MAY CAUSE THE
FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES TO MOVE. FAILURE TO ENSURE
ALL PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF FLIGHT
CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE APPLYING HYDRAULIC POWER
MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH OR DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT.
(c) If required, apply hydraulic power to aircraft. See External Hydraulic Power Application,
20-30-10, Maintenance Practices.
NOTE: The eMED will close using the auxiliary hydraulic pump under normal
conditions without external hydraulic power. If external hydraulic power is
required, only left system hydraulics need be applied.
B. Procedure
NOTE: The following procedures are used to open and close the eMED from locations inside and
outside aircraft:
• 1.B1. - Closing Main Entrance Door From Inside Aircraft
• 1.B2. - Opening Main Entrance Door From Inside Aircraft
• 1.B3. - Closing Main Entrance Door From Outside Aircraft
• 1.B4. - Opening Main Entrance Door From Outside Aircraft

B1. Closing Main Entrance Door From Inside Aircraft
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE DOOR PATH IS CLEAR OF ALL PERSONNEL AND
EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO
PERSONNEL.
(1) Ensure door path is clear of FOD (to include removing all protection) from airstairs, folding

steps, vestibule upper step, handrails, telescoping rods and everything in door path.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE STORAGE DOOR IS CLOSED AND SECURE
DURING DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING COULD RESULT IN AIRCRAFT
DAMAGE.
(2) Ensure storage door on aft side of airstair is closed and latched.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF THE DOOR OPENING
DAMPER IS DISCONNECTED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO ENSURE THE
DOOR OPEN DAMPER IS INSTALLED MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(3) Ensure door opening damper is fully installed.
(4) On Cockpit Overhead Panel (COP) in miscellaneous section, ensure DOOR SAFETY switch
is OFF. See Figure 203.
(5) On bulkhead, aft of eMED, select main entry door switch to CLOSE. See Figure 203.
NOTE: Auxiliary hydraulic pump will come on, door will begin to close. Once door has fully
closed, it will unlock then latch and lock in latched position. As it begins to latch
auxiliary pump will go off.
(6) Verify once fully latched and locked, amber DOOR OPEN light goes off on COP in
miscellaneous section and on bulkhead aft of eMED adjacent to three-position control switch.
(7) Verify once door is fully latched and locked, no Main Door or Main Door Maint Req’d
messages display on CAS page.
(8) Verify system diagnostics using Central Maintenance Computer (CMC).
(a) Using drop down menu on a cockpit display unit, select CMC, System Diagnostics, 52
Doors and (10) Electronic Main Entry door and finally, Data: Main Entry Door.
(b) Verify pages 1 and 2 match illustration for being closed. See Figure 202.
B2. Opening Main Entrance Door From Inside Aircraft
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE DOOR PATH IS CLEAR OF ALL PERSONNEL AND
EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO
PERSONNEL.
(1) Look through viewport mounted on forward door bulkhead and ensure there are no
obstructions or personnel in path of door opening.
NOTE: If required, you may observe area in vicinity of eMED opening from a cabin window.
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT PRESSURIZED MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(2) Ensure aircraft is not pressurized.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE STORAGE DOOR IS CLOSED AND SECURE
DURING DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING COULD RESULT IN AIRCRAFT
DAMAGE.
(3) Ensure storage door on aft side of airstair is closed and latched.

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF THE DOOR OPENING
DAMPER IS DISCONNECTED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO ENSURE THE
DOOR OPEN DAMPER IS INSTALLED MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(4) Ensure door opening damper is fully installed.
(5) On bulkhead aft of eMED, select main entry door switch to OPEN. See Figure 203.
NOTE: Door will unlock opening pressure relief valve, unlatch and lock latching mechanism
in unlatched position. Door will then rotate to open position under force of gravity
with opening rate controlled by damper.
The eMED will not unlock and open if cabin pressure is 2 psi (13.79 kPa) or greater.
(6) As soon as switch is activated, verify amber DOOR OPEN light displays on COP in
miscellaneous section and on bulkhead aft of eMED adjacent to three-position control switch.
(7) As soon as switch is activated, verify Main Door message displays on CAS page.
NOTE: Main Door message may be either amber or cyan depending on aircraft
configuration.
(8) Close main entrance door and repeat Step 1.B2.(1) thru Step 1.B2.(7) using DOOR OPEN
switch on COP in miscellaneous section.
(9) Verify system diagnostics using CMC.
(a) Using drop down menu on a cockpit display unit, select CMC, System Diagnostics, 52
Doors and (10) Electronic Main Entry door and finally, Data: Main Entry Door.
(b) Verify pages 1 and 2 match illustration for being open. See Figure 202.
(10) Remove electrical power from aircraft. See Aircraft Electrical Power - Application, 20-20-10,
Maintenance Practices.
B3. Closing Main Entrance Door From Outside Aircraft
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE DOOR PATH IS CLEAR OF ALL PERSONNEL AND
EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO
PERSONNEL.
(1) Ensure door path is clear of FOD (to include removing all protection) from airstairs, folding
steps, vestibule upper step, handrails, telescoping rods and everything in door path.
CAUTION: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE STORAGE DOOR IS CLOSED AND SECURE
DURING DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING COULD RESULT IN AIRCRAFT
DAMAGE.
(2) Ensure storage door on aft side of airstair is closed and latched.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF THE DOOR OPENING
DAMPER IS DISCONNECTED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO ENSURE THE
DOOR OPEN DAMPER IS INSTALLED MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(3) Ensure door opening damper is fully installed.
(4) On COP in miscellaneous section, ensure DOOR SAFETY switch is OFF. See Figure 203.
(5) With no external electrical power applied, on SECURITY/GND SVC panel (112AL), select
EXTERNAL BATTERY switch ON. See Figure 201.

(6) Select MAIN DOOR switch to CLOSE.


NOTE: The auxiliary hydraulic pump will come on, door will begin to close. It will unlock then
latch and lock in latched position. As it begins to latch the auxiliary pump will go off.
(7) Verify once fully latched and locked, amber DOOR OPEN light goes off on SECURITY/GND
SVC panel.
(8) On SECURITY/GND SVC panel, select EXTERNAL BATTERY switch OFF.
B4. Opening Main Entrance Door From Outside Aircraft
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE DOOR PATH IS CLEAR OF ALL PERSONNEL AND
EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO
PERSONNEL.
(1) Ensure door path is clear of all personnel and equipment.
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT PRESSURIZED MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(2) Ensure aircraft in not pressurized.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF THE DOOR OPENING
DAMPER IS DISCONNECTED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO ENSURE THE
DOOR OPEN DAMPER IS INSTALLED MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(3) Ensure door opening damper is fully installed.
(4) On SECURITY/GND SVC panel (112AL), select MAIN DOOR switch to OPEN. Amber DOOR
light will come on. See Figure 201.
NOTE: Door will unlock opening pressure relief valve, unlatch, lock latching mechanism in
unlatched position. Door will then rotate to open position under force of gravity with
opening rate controlled by damper.
The eMED will not unlock and open if cabin pressure is 2 psi (13.79 kPa) or greater.
(5) As soon as switch is activated, verify amber DOOR OPEN light comes on at SECURITY/GND
SVC panel.
B5. Main Entrance Door — Emergency Operating Procedures
(1) Close door per Step 1.B3.
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE DOOR PATH IS CLEAR OF ALL PERSONNEL
AND EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY
TO PERSONNEL.
(2) Ensure door path is clear of all personnel and equipment.
WARNING: FAILURE TO ENSURE THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT PRESSURIZED MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(3) Ensure aircraft in not pressurized.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF THE DOOR OPENING
DAMPER IS DISCONNECTED OR REMOVED. FAILURE TO ENSURE THE
DOOR OPEN DAMPER IS INSTALLED MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO
AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
(4) Ensure door opening damper is fully installed.

(5) Open service door labeled FOR EMERGENCY ENTRY, located at bottom center of main
entry door exterior. See Figure 204.
(6) Select MAIN DOOR switch to OPEN.
C. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Remove electrical power from aircraft, if required. See Aircraft Electrical Power - Application,
20-20-10, Maintenance Practices.
(3) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.

2. Opening Main Entrance Door From Inside Aircraft with no Electrical Power
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to Aircraft 6001 thru Aircraft 6249 and aircraft not equipped with
ASC -065.
A. Preparation

B. Procedure
WARNING: ENSURE AREA WITHIN DOOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PATH IS CLEAR OF
PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN INJURY
TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
STORAGE DOOR ON AFT SIDE OF MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR MUST BE CLOSED
AND SECURED AT ALL TIMES DURING OPENING AND CLOSING
PROCEDURES.
DO NOT OPERATE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IF OPENING DAMPER IS NOT
INSTALLED. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN BODILY INJURY OR
SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(1) Remove airstair. See Main Entrance Door Airstair - Removal / Installation, 52-12-00, Removal
/ Installation or Code 521226.
NOTE: Removal of airstairs can be accomplished with door in closed position.
(2) Insert 3/8 inch drive ratchet into mechanical drive adapter lug attached to locking actuator.
(3) Insert 3/8 inch drive ratchet with 6 inch extension into manual drive adapter of latching
bayonet inner crank.
(4) Look through viewport mounted on forward door bulkhead and ensure there are no
obstructions or personnel in path of door opening.
NOTE: If required, you may observe area in vicinity of eMED opening from a cabin window.
WARNING: WHEN DOOR UNLATCHES IT WILL OPEN UNDER FORCE OF GRAVITY.
DOOR SHALL BE HELD IN PLACE BY PERSONNEL UNTIL PERSONNEL
HAVE RETURNED THE LOCKING MECHANISM TO THE LOCKED
POSITION, ALL TOOLS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM LOCKING AND
LATCHING MECHANISMS AND ALL PERSONNEL ARE CLEAR OF DOOR.
FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN INJURY TO PERSONNEL /
DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT.
(5) Have personnel in place on outside of door to hold door closed while unlocking and
unlatching.

NOTE: Door shall be held in place by personnel outside door until tools and personnel
inside are clear of door.
(6) Rotate ratchet installed in lug attached to locking actuator upward to unlock latching
mechanism manually. See Figure 205.
(7) Rotate ratchet installed in latching bayonet spindle crank clockwise to unlatch door manually.
See Figure 206.
(8) Ensure personnel continue to hold the door against the fuselage.
(9) Release ratchet returning locking mechanism to locked position, ensuring lock pin engages
bayonet spindle lock detents. See Figure 207.
(10) Remove ratchets and extension from locking and latching mechanisms.
(11) Ensure door path is clear and let door free fall to open position.
(12) Inspect door and mechanisms for damage.
(13) Install airstair, as required. See Main Entrance Door Airstair - Removal / Installation,
52-12-00, Removal / Installation or Code 521226.
C. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.

(1) Remove airstair. See Main Entrance Door Airstair - Removal / Installation, 52-12-00, Removal
/ Installation or Code 521226.
(2) Ensure door is unlatched (bayonets fully retracted).
(3) Insert 3/8 inch drive ratchet into mechanical drive adapter lug attached to locking actuator.
(4) Insert 3/8 inch drive ratchet with 6 inch extension into manual drive adapter of latching
bayonet inner crank.
(5) Have personnel outside aircraft to lift door into upright position and continue to hold against
the fuselage.
NOTE: If required, you may observe area in vicinity of eMED opening from a cabin window.
WARNING: BOTTOM STEP WILL START TO STOW AS SOON AS DOOR IS LIFTED.
KEEP PERSONNEL AWAY FROM BOTTOM STEP DURING LIFTING.
DOOR IS HEAVY AND WILL FALL OPEN IF NOT HELD IN PLACE. KEEP
ALL DOOR EDGE AREAS FREE OF PERSONNEL AS NOT GET PINCHED
WHEN DOOR IS MANUALLY LOWERED IN TO CLOSED POSITION.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIFT DOOR BY BOTTOM FOLDING STEP. DAMAGE
TO AIRSTAIR MAY OCCUR.
(6) Rotate ratchet installed in lug attached to locking actuator upward to unlock latching
mechanism manually. See Figure 205.

(7) Rotate ratchet installed in latching bayonet spindle crank clockwise to unlatch door manually.
See Figure 206.
(8) Ensure door is fully closed and bayonets fully deployed.
(9) Release ratchet returning locking mechanism to locked position, ensuring lock pin engages
bayonet spindle lock detents. See Figure 207.
(10) Remove ratchets and extension from locking and latching mechanisms.
(11) Inspect door and mechanisms for damage.
(12) Install airstair, as required. See Main Entrance Door Airstair - Removal / Installation,
52-12-00, Removal / Installation or Code 521226.
C. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
4. Consolidated Manual Operation — Rigging

This procedure is applicable to Aircraft 6250 and subsequent or aircraft equipped with ASC -065
manual operation mechanism. It coincides with Main Entrance Door Airstair Support Box Frame -

C1. Manual Mechanism Operation (Rigging)

PROCEDURES.

DO NOT OPERATE MANUAL OPERATION MECHANISM WITHOUT AIRSTAIR OR
WEIGHT TOOL INSTALLED. DAMAGE TO BOX FRAME MAY RESULT.
(1) With lock crank spring installed, install cable.
(2) Pull T-handle out 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) from fully retracted position (until rigging hole is exposed
above T-handle bracket) and install 0.125 inch (3.175 mm) rig pin or equivalent into rigging
hole. See Figure 209.
(3) Shorten cable turnbuckle until all free travel in lock crank is consumed. See Figure 210.
(4) Remove 0.125 inch (3.175 mm) rig pin from T-handle rigging hole.
(5) Pull T-handle and lock in position.
(6) Ensure lock pins clear locking crank approximately 0.100 inch (2.54 mm) minimum. See
Figure 211.
(7) If lock pins do not clear locking crank, adjust turnbuckle until dimension is met.
(8) Install safety pins in cable turnbuckle.
NOTE: These safety pins are one use only and are required to be replaced whenever they
are installed.
(9) Ensure proper orientation of handle for bayonet spindle position (latched or unlatched).
(10) Insert drive handle assembly fully into manual drive adapter on bayonet spindle assembly.
(11) Bottom out drive handle into manual drive adapter.
(12) Observe position of bearing block assembly on box frame cross member and mark driveshaft.
See Figure 212.
(13) Retract drive handle 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) from fully inserted position and fasten to box frame.
(14) Verify measurement of mark on driveshaft made in Step 4.C1.(12) matches manual drive
adapter of 0.25 ±0.05 inch (6.35 ±1.27mm). See Figure 212.

THE RARE EARTH MAGNETS ON BACK SIDE OF HINGED TREADPLATE
ASSEMBLY ARE STRONGLY MAGNETIC AND FRAGILE. CARE SHOULD
BE TAKEN WHEN WORKING WITH AND AROUND THEM. SHATTERING
MAGNETS CAN LAUNCH PIECES AT GREAT SPEED. THEY ALSO
PRODUCE A STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD AND CAN DAMAGE ITEMS LIKE
ID CARDS, ELECTRONICS AND MONITORS. NEVER ALLOW MAGNETS
NEAR A PERSON WITH PACEMAKER OR SIMILAR MEDICAL DEVICE.
(15) Install magnet target with treadplate closed.
(16) Adjust target just up to contact with magnet. Ensure not to overdrive target into magnet. See
Figure 213.
(17) Install safety cable to target, ensuring not to overtighten cable and clock target relative to
magnet face.
(18) Ensure not to overdrive target into magnet. See Figure 213.
C2. Manual Mechanism Operation (Rigging Verification)

(1) Verify mechanism has been rigged correctly by manually opening door as follows:
(a) With door closed, open treadplate to access manual operation mechanism.
(b) Actuate T-handle to manually unlock door and secure handle in disengaged position by
rotating clockwise at end of stroke. See Figure 208.
(c) Using adequate force, rotate unlatch drive handle clockwise to unlatch door. The door
will lift and open immediately at end of 90° rotation of drive handle.
NOTE: Do not hold onto handle as door opens.
(d) Ensure handle is released as soon as door begins rotating outward and away from
operator. See Figure 212.
(e) With door open access mechanism, rotate T-handle counterclockwise to engage door
lock and close treadplate. See Figure 208.
C3. Manual Mechanism Operation – Door Closing With No Power
(1) With door open, ensure bayonets are fully retracted.
(2) Open treadplate (manually hold open) to gain access to manual operation mechanism.

(3) Actuate T-handle to manually unlock door and secure handle in disengaged position by

(9) Ensure door is fully closed and bayonets fully deployed.
(10) Turn T-handle counterclockwise 90° to release door lock.
(11) Close treadplate access.
D. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.

5. Main Entrance Door to Aircraft — Rigging Inspection


A. General
This procedure should be used to evaluate basic inspection criteria and rigging state when eMED
operational issue is noted. This procedure should be completed prior to starting the Main Entrance
Door Rigging - Adjustment / Test, 52-10-00, Adjustment / Test or Code 521025 procedure.
It is recommended that only a Gulfstream G650 / G650ER trained technician with eMED rigging
experience perform this procedure.

(3) Inspect the following contact and moving surfaces of eMED to ensure they are free of paint
and paint overspray:
NOTE: Remove lubrication, clean shaded area contact points as noted in Figure 216. All
applicable contact points will be lubricated again in Main Entrance Door -
Lubrication, 12-25-00, Servicing or Code 122501 procedure.
If any paint or overspray is noted, it must be removed. The preferred method is to
use fine grit Scotch-Brite and MEK cleaning solvent as to not damage surfaces.
(a) All 12 stop bolts, attached to eMED structure.
(b) All four hooks, two at top and two at bottom, attached to eMED structure.
(c) Both bayonets, one on each side of eMED structure.
(d) Both bayonet guides, one on each side of eMED structure.
(e) All four guide rollers, located top and bottom of eMED structure.
(f) Both lower folding step stop pads, located under folding step and mounted on eMED
structure.
(g) Lock indicator, located on aft side (right hand side as viewed looking at stairs with door
open) of eMED structure.
(h) Both stability bolts, located at top of door with door open, on each side of eMED
structure.
(i) Both stability bolt stop pads, located at top and on the side of stairs with door open, on
each side of eMED structure.
(j) All 12 stop fittings, located on aircraft forward and aft doorframe bulkhead.
(k) All four hook receivers, located on aircraft upper and lower doorframe.
(l) Both bayonet receivers, located midpoint on aircraft forward and aft doorframe
bulkhead.

(m) All four guide receivers (two upper and lower), located on aircraft doorframe bulkhead.
(n) Forward and aft fixed handrail guide tracks.
(o) Forward and aft underfloor stop fittings.
(p) Ensure there is no paint overspray present on storage box springs or in between
knuckles of storage box hinge.
(4) Perform Main Entrance Door Inner and Outer Seal - General Visual Inspection, 52-15-01,
Inspection / Check or Code 521500.
(5) Lubricate main entry door. See Main Entrance Door - Lubrication, 12-25-00, Servicing or
Code 122501.
NOTE: Leave eMED airstair off after door lubrication for door rigging verification.
(6) The following prerequisite conditions must be met prior to door verification:
NOTE: These conditions will be used to best represent aircraft in a production environment
with weight on wheels.
(a) Check main battery power. Battery level must be 26 Vdc or greater.
(b) Use external power if available.
(c) Fuel weight of 11,000 - 13,000 pounds (4989.5 - 5896.7 kg) is required for eMED
rigging.
(d) Aircraft to be weight on wheels configuration.
(e) Full interior installed or ballast weights installed to simulate interior weight.
(f) Airstairs removed for access to interior door components. See Main Entrance Door
Airstair - Removal / Installation, 52-12-00, Removal / Installation or Code 521226.
(g) Door side panels removed for access to interior door components.
(h) Secure stowage box to door structure or airstair weight tool with tape to stabilize.
(i) Install airstair weight tool, GSE Part No. GSE5220614, per instructions provided with
weight tool.
NOTE: Contact Gulfstream Customer Support for further information on availability of
airstair weight tool.
(j) Aircraft to be fully configured with wing, engines and empennage. Contact Gulfstream
Customer Support if further instructions and / or information is needed.

operation.
C. Door Rig Checklist / Verification Procedure
NOTE: This will perform a full checklist of all components critical to rigging of main entry door.
Complete all verification steps prior to any modification and / or adjustment to aircraft.
Make note of any discrepant conditions.
Once all verification steps have been performed and data sheets in Figure 215 have been
filled out, contact Gulfstream Customer Support for further assistance for actions to take
with respect to component rigging.
(1) With door open, verify the following:

NOTE: Take measurements of door components when door is open, fill in data sheets. See
Figure 215.
(a) Inspect underfloor mechanism for the following (see Figure 218):
1 Verify and record measurement between aft hinge assembly and aft vestibule
bulkhead (FS 309). Nominal value is 3.500 ±0.008 inches ( 88.9 ±0.203 mm), but
may have been adjusted during initial build. Record measurement on Figure 218
in place provided.
(b) Ensure both damper and actuator rod ends are centered in crank clevis. Ensure
hardware stackup is not loose or able to slide axially. See Figure 221 and Figure 222.
(c) Verify underfloor stops are in contact with door hinges. See Figure 230.
(d) Telescoping Rods
1 Verify telescoping rods are equally loaded by manually checking tension of rods.
Middle section of each one should not have movement in up or down directions
and be equally difficult to rotate. See Figure 228.
(e) Stability Mechanism
1 Verify adjustment pins are contacting striker plates. See Figure 229, Sheet 2.
2 Verify adjustment pins are overcenter relative to striker plate by applying light
pulling force on pin and verifying pin does not come dislodged.
(f) Handrail Mechanism Stop Bolts
1 Verify forward and aft handrail stop bolts are in contact with handrail stop crank.
See Figure 231.
(g) Fixed Handrails
1 Verify forward and aft handrails rollers are bottomed out in fixed handrail track
(verify by pulling down and outboard on handrail and ensuring no movement).
See Figure 232.
(h) Verify guide receiver proximity switches as follows (see Figure 219):
1 Rotating door guide receiver paddle to fully depressed position.
2 Verify and record measurement between barrel of switch and outboard edge of
door guide receiver paddle is 0.110 - 0.130 inch (2.794 - 3.302 mm).
3 Verify and record measurement between proximity sensor face and door guide
receiver paddle is 0.020 - 0.030 inch (0.508 - 0.762 mm).
(i) Verify and record measurement for both forward and aft bayonet microswitches
between outer edge of bayonet faceplate to tip of microswitch plunger in relaxed state
is 0.335 - 0.345 inch (8.509 - 8.763 mm).
(j) Verify and record measurement of lock proximity switch with lock pin locking latch
mechanism. Measure between proximity sensor face and lock pin target is 0.040 -
0.050 inch (1.016 - 1.27 mm).

(4) Verify system diagnostics using CMC.
(a) Using drop-down menu on a cockpit display unit, select CMC, System Diagnostics, 52
Doors and (10) Electronic Main Entry door and finally, Data: Main Entry Door.
(b) Verify pages 1 and 2 match illustration for being open. See Figure 214.
(5) On cockpit overhead panel in miscellaneous section, select DOOR SAFETY to OFF. See
Figure 201.
WARNING: ENSURE AREA WITHIN DOOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PATH IS
CLEAR OF PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY
RESULT IN INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
STORAGE DOOR ON AFT SIDE OF EMED MUST BE CLOSED AND
SECURED AT ALL TIMES DURING OPENING AND CLOSING
PROCEDURES.
CAUTION: ENSURE NO ITEMS HAVE BEEN LEFT BETWEEN VESTIBULE UPPER
STEP AND TOP FOLDING STEP AS THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO STEPS
DURING DOOR CLOSING.
(6) Close main entry door. Main Entrance Door - Operating Procedures, 52-10-00, Maintenance
Practices.
WARNING: IF HINGE STOP PAD IN THE NEXT STEP IS NOT OBSERVED PULLING
AWAY FROM ADJUSTMENT PIN, STOP DOOR CLOSING PROCESS.
(7) While closing door, immediately verify hinge stop pad pulls away from stability mechanism
adjustment pin slightly during door closing, creating a gap. If this does not happen, stop door
closing process. See Figure 229, Sheet 2.
(a) If no gap occurs, remove stability mechanism drive rod to continue rigging inspection
process as follows:
NOTE: Rigging of suitability mechanism will need to be accomplished prior to return
to service.
1 With door in open position, lift and support on padded work bench or stable
surface to relieve tension on stability mechanism.
2 Remove stability mechanism drive rod from door. See Figure 229, Sheet 3.
3 Rotate stability mechanism adjustment pins so they are fully disengaged from
eMED hinges. Secure stability mechanism so it cannot move. See Figure 229.
(8) With door closed, verify system diagnostics using CMC.

Practices.
(11) With eMED closed, verify the following:
NOTE: Take measurements of door gaps and applicable components when door is closed,
fill in data sheets. See Figure 215. Contact Gulfstream Customer Support for further
assistance if needed.
All measurements except for lower hook gaps shall be taken without Reprorubber
installed to lower hooks, as it will affect other measurements.
(a) Verify orange locked visual indication dot is visible in viewing window. See Figure 217.
(b) Guide Receivers
NOTE: This inspection shall be accomplished using feeler gages. All gap
measurements should be between tip of guide roller and guide receiver face.
See Figure 220 and Figure 223.
1 Verify upper forward and lower aft guide rollers are in contact with corresponding
guide receiver. Record measurements on Figure 215, Sheet 4.
2 Verify lower forward and upper aft guide rollers have 0.025 - 0.035 (0.635 - 0.889
mm) gap to corresponding receivers. Record measurements on Figure 215,
Sheet 4.
(c) Guide Receiver Stop Bolts
1 Ensure lower door guide rollers are contacting stop bolt heads. See Figure 223.
(d) Doorstops
1 Verify gaps between all 12 stops and that stop fittings are 0.018 - 0.034 (0.457 -
0.864 mm). See Figure 224. Record measurements on Figure 215, Sheet 2.
(e) Hook Receiver
1 Verify gaps between two upper hook and receiver catches are 0.018 - 0.049
(0.457 - 1.245 mm). See Figure 225. Record measurements on Figure 215,
Sheet 3.
(f) Bayonet Receivers
1 Verify and record upper / lower gaps between bayonets and bayonet receivers
faceplates are 0.025 - 0.056 inch (0.635 - 1.422 mm) and inboard / outboard are
a minimum of 0.100 (2.54 mm). See Figure 227 and Figure 215, Sheet 5.
(g) Bayonet Location
NOTE: If bayonet switches are faulty, CAS message will display.
1 Verify bayonet engagement marker is flush to or up to 0.020 inch (0.508 mm)
obscured by bayonet receiver faceplate. See Figure 227.
2 Verify innermost orange dot of both bayonets is visible and tangent to or up to

0.020 inch (+0.508 mm) obscured by outer edge of bayonet fitting. See Figure
226.
(h) Inspect external circumference of door and verify door is not contacting forward or aft
fuselage skin opening.
(i) Verify all external gaps surrounding eMED are per Figure 219 and are met
simultaneously. Gaps are to be measured under 0 psi aircraft pressure. Record
external gaps (see Figure 215, Sheet 1). Notes / exceptions to the requirements of
Figure 219 are as follows:
1 Upper corner edges of door shall maintain minimum 0.150 (3.81 mm) gap from
top edge of door through majority of corner and may only taper back right before
forward and aft side edges begin.
2 For Aircraft 6001 thru Aircraft 6119, it is acceptable for forward / aft edge gap to
be a minimum of 0.040 inch (1.012 mm) and for bottom corners to have a gap
which tapers between lower edge and forward / aft edges.
3 For Aircraft 6001 thru Aircraft 6119, it is acceptable for bottom edge gap to be a
maximum of 0.150 inch (3.81 mm).
(j) Verify all external steps surrounding eMED are per Figure 219 and are met
simultaneously. Steps are to be measured under 0 psi aircraft pressure. Record
external steps (see Figure 215, Sheet 1).

(13) Remove safety clips, tags and close circuit breakers and SSPCs pulled in Step 5.B.(2)(e),
Step 5.B.(2)(f) and Step 5.B.(2)(h).
(14) Open eMED. See Main Entrance Door - Operating Procedures, 52-10-00, Maintenance
Practices.
(15) Mix Reprorubber quick-setting putty according to manufacturer’s instruction and apply putty to
lower hooks right before closing door.
NOTE: Engineering recommends using a quick-setting putty, such as Reprorubber, to
measure gaps on lower hook and receiver catches. Reprorubber quick-setting putty
takes approximately 5 minutes to cure. Do not mix until just before closing door or
reapplication will be necessary for accurate measurement.
(16) Close eMED. See Main Entrance Door - Operating Procedures, 52-10-00, Maintenance
Practices
(17) Allow Reprorubber to cure, then open eMED. See Main Entrance Door - Operating
Procedures, 52-10-00, Maintenance Practices
(18) Remove electrical power. See Aircraft Electrical Power - Application, 20-20-10, Maintenance
Practices.
(19) On cockpit overhead panel in miscellaneous section, select DOOR SAFETY switch ON. See
Figure 201.

(20) Remove putty and verify gaps between two lower hook and receiver catches are 0.018 -
0.049 (0.457 - 1.245 mm) by cutting putty forms previously installed on hooks down middle
and measuring putty thickness at point of gap between hook and receiver catch. Record
measurements on Figure 215, Sheet 3.
(21) Once all verification steps have been performed and data sheets filled out, contact
Gulfstream Customer Support and provide completed data sheets and any discrepancies
noted for assistance in determining adjustments needed to eMED.
(22) If no discrepancies are found in Step 5.C., remove weight tool and install airstair. See Main
Entrance Door Airstair - Removal / Installation, 52-12-00, Removal / Installation or Code
521226. Once airstair is installed, proceed to Step 5.D.(1).
D. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Perform Main Entrance Door - Operating Procedures, 52-10-00, Maintenance Practices to
ensure smooth and proper operation of entry door.
(3) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
