General Information
Description
This course is designed to help you better understand our constantly changing and complex world through
a study of geography. We will study geography from the physical, political, and cultural perspective
through the five basic geographical themes of location, place, human-environment interaction, movement,
and region. Special emphasis will be placed on geographical skills and geographic literacy (locating
countries, capitals, and physical features of the world). The class will contain various group and
individual assignments and projects.
Expectations
Students are expected to be in class on time each day with their materials. Notes will be kept in a one-inch
3-ring binder. As we finish a section of notes, students will mark important areas with a highlighter to
prepare for quizzes or tests. In class assignments are not designed to require outside work very often,
however if outside work is required, assignments should be turned in on time (typically the next school
day). Homework will be accepted late after the due date for -10 each day. Late work will be recorded in
the Weekly Participation section. Students who have an excused absence will have one day per day absent
to make up work. In addition to various tests, quizzes, and assignments, students will have various
projects assigned that delve more deeply into the region we are studying.
Grading
Tests/Projects- 60%
Quizzes/Daily Grades- 25%
