1 Introduction
This document explain how to insert frames and details into drawings using CATIA V5
There are two ways to add frames to a drawing.
The first way is to copy the frames as well as details you require from a catalog provided.
The second way is to import frames using CATScript.
Only the drawing frame must be placed in the background (VW 01059-6).
Select the wanted format and in point 0,0 of the sheet place.

Click OK to confirm.
3 Inserting details
All the required are copiedinto the detail sheet. The detail sheet can be created separately or
automatically. The transfer of repeat texts from the catalog is identical with the reading in of a
frame.
From there, using the command „Instantiate 2D Component“, the details can be very quickly
and easily added as 2D components to any sheet where they are required.

The macro for generating drawing frames can be found in the "Drafting" workbench. It is
activated in the sheet background with the "Frame Creation" symbol.
Create
The frames can be produced depending on of the styles in different sheet sizes.
In addition, it can be selected if the file name and description shall be written in the title block.
Endmessage!
Delete
The VW-standard-drawing frame is deleted with the "Delete" function. This can be used to
remove frames from the macro and frames from the catalogue. In this case also the “Detail-
sheet” is also deleted.
Resize
The function “Resize” exchanges the drawing frame into a greater and/or smaller format if
the sheet size has already been changed before. Only the VW-standard-frames constructed
with the frame macro can be adjusted with “Resize”. If the frame has been inserted from the
catalog, an “UpGrade” must be made before one can be resized.
Update PageNumber
If pages have been added to or removed from a drawing, the page numbers are updated
using the "Update PageNumber" function.
E.g. page 2 of 3 to page 2 of 4.
UpGrade
If the drawing frames are no longer up to date, they can be updated using the "UpGrade"
function. In this case the completed text is retained.
Frames from the catalog can also be updated as long as the macro recognises these as VW-
standard- frames.
If lines have been left blank in the revision field, the completed lines are shifted upwards by
deleting the blank lines. This may be necessary, particularly if a "Resize" to a smaller format
is carried out, as the revision table is cut off at the bottom.
Administration
As the macro is written in CATScript, it can be used both on the Unix platforms and under
Windows.
So that it can be called up in the Drawing Workbench Sheet Background, the macro must
be located in the position entered here under Tools->Options.
