TRAINING PROGRAMME

on
“Climate Change, Disaster and Pandemic Management:
Technological Interventions for Sustainable Development”
20 – 24April 2020 ''ICTO-23'

Dated: 20/04/2020

REPORT
The first day of the workshop on “Climate Change, Disaster and Pandemic
Management: Technological Interventions for Sustainable Development”
being hosted by the department of RURAL DEVELOPMENT of NITTTR was
quite interesting and worth learning. All three-session including opening session
and TS1 and TS2.
1. The First session was not only introductory but learning in many ways in
which participants across the nation shared their views aligned to the topic
of the training programme as this group is a quite cohesive and
international as there are some participants Nigeria.
2. The presentation on ‘Climate Change and Sustainable Development: A
Case of South Asia and India’ made by the Professor U.N. Roy was quite
informative and set the top of the training programme. The various
concepts of climate change with many examples of national and
international easily understandable to all at least the participant attending
this workshop having multidisciplinary background. He also elaborated
the different measures taken by the international community to reduce the
impact of climate change.
3. In the second technical session Professor U. N. Roy made his detailed
presentation on Natural Hazards starting with the concepts and meaning of
Hazards and also explain its different types and categories i.e. Geophysical
Hazards, Hydrological, Climatic and Atmospheric, wild Fire, Bio-
spherical and Extra-terrestrials. This session was also very interesting to
all as it also discussed in detail the epidemics or the Pandemic with special
reference to the present pandemic COVID-19. The health model of Cuba
shared by the resource person was quite interesting and compel a common
man that how a small country located at the distance of just 80 miles from
USA is performing wonderfully in Health and Education in spite of US
blockade.

 As we know that the online teaching and learning is not a complete

alternative to the face to face teaching and learning but the seriousness
shown in all technical sessions could not let the participant feel that we are
attending this programme remotely.

 The question or intervention raised by the participants from different parts

was not only learning to them but for all those who did not asked any
question.
 The discussion moderated by the presenter i.e. Prof. Roy was quite
interesting and democratic.
