WEEK 7: NON-LINEAR REPORT WRITING RE-CAP AND PRACTICES

1. Answer ALL the questions based on what you have learned on Non-Linear Report Writing.
2. Questions 1 & 2 are guided while Questions 3 & 4 are not. Answer accordingly. (Note: you

Title :
Types of transportation used by University students to return home home at the end of the
each of semester and their choice from 2012 to 2015.

Step 3: Writing the Introduction


Introduction : Figure 1 show the types of transportation used by University Students to return
home(2012-2015)while Table 1 show the reasons for choosing different types of
transportation among University Students in 2015.
Overview :
Generally,different types of transportation among University Students in 2015 affects the
transportation used by University students to return home(2012-2015)

Step 4: Writing the Analysis and Synthesis


Analysis 1:
Bus recorded 75% percentage of university students in 2012 and then decreased to 50% in
2015.
Analysis 2:
In 2012,Train recorded the highest percentage of University students used(12%) while taxi
recorded the lowest percentage of university students which was 1%.
Synthesis 1:
Bus recorded the 75% percentage in 2012 which then decreased to 50% percentage in 2015
while in contrast,Train recorded 12% percentage in 2012 which then increased to 40% in
2015.
Synthesis 2:
In 2015,Bus recorded the highest number of University Students used(75%) percentage due
to affordable fare,easy access,flexible travel time and destination.Taxi in contrast has the
lowest number of University students used which 1% percentage due to less reasons that
support its which only flexible travel time.

Step 5: Writing the Conclusion


Conclusion :In conclusion,types of transportation used by university students to return home
in 2012-2015 were affected by the reasons for choosing different types of transportation.

Consumers’ choices for grocery shopping in 2000 and 2019 and the characteristics of
shopping venues in 2019.

Introduction : Figure 1 show the places where consumers buy their groceries from 2000 to
2019 while table 1 show characteristics of shopping venues in 2019.
Overview :
Generally,characteristics of shopping venues in 2019 affects the places where consumers buy
their groceries.

Step 4: Writing the Analysis and Synthesis


Analysis 1:
Supermarkets recorded 5% of customer in 2000 which then increased to 50% in 2019.
Analysis 2:
In 2000, supermarkets recorded the highest percentage of customers which is 50% while
convenient stores recorded the lowest percentage of customers which is 2%.
Synthesis 1:
Supermarkets recorded 5% of customer in 2000 which then increased to 50% in 2019 while
in 2000,Famer’s markets recorded 7% of customer which then decreased to 4% in 2019.
Synthesis 2:
Supermarkets recorded the highest number in 2019 which is 50% due to the characteristics of
shopping venues which were promotions,accessible location,customer service,variety and
quality of goods in contrast Famer’s supermarket recorded the lowest number of customer in
2019(4%) due to less characteristics of shopping venues which only cheaper price.

Step 5: Writing the Conclusion


Conclusion :In conclusion,places where consumers buy their groceries was affected by
characteristics of shopping venues in 2019.

Practice 3

Answer:
Patterns of free time activities by secondary and university students daily in 2014 and
beneficts rated by the two types of students.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 shows the activities during free time by secondary school students and
University students daily in 2014 while Table 1 show the student’s rating of beneficts gained
by engaging in Free time activities.
Secondary school students recorded 10 minutes to help parents while spend 150 minutes in
attend tuition classes.
In 2014,help parents recorded the lowest free time spent daily for secondary school
students(10 minutes) while take a nap is the lowest free time spent daily for university
students daily which is 20 minutes.
Activities during free time by secondary students daily were 20 minutes for play games and
120 minutes to do homework while in contrast university students spent 20 minutes to take a
nap and 120 minutes to carry out group discussion.
Activities during free time perform by secondary school which is 150 minutes by attend
tuition class caused them to obtain better grade meanwhile activities during free time by
university students which is 150 minutes for surf the internit caused them to be more updated.
In conclusion,activities during free time by secondary school and university students affected
the rating of beneficts gained by engaging in free time activities.

Practice 5

Answer:
Number of youths visiting the dentist in the past 40 years between boys and girls and the
reasons for visiting the dentist.
Figure 1 show the number of youths visiting the dentist from 1971-2010 between boys and
girls while table 1 show the reason for visitng the dentist in 1971-1980 and 2001-
2010.Generally,reasons for visiting the dentist affected the number of youths.
The number of boy youths visiting dentist in 1971-1980 is 26000 and then increased to 75000
in 2001-2010.
In 1971-1980,the number of boy youths visiting the dentist is 26000 while the number of girl
youths visiting dentist in the same year is 30000.
The number of boy youths visiting dentist in 1971-1980 was increased from 26000 to 75000
in 2001-2010 while the number of girl youth in the same year is 30000 and then increased to
60000 in 2001-2010.
The number of youths visiting dentist in 2001-2010 is the highest which is 135000 due to
seeking treatment for gum disease,extracting teeth,filling cavities,fitting braces,whitening and
cleaning of teeth while the number of youths visitng dentist in 1971-1980 is the lowest due to
less reasons for visiting dentist.
In conclusion,the reasons for visiting the dentist affected the number of youths visiting the
dentist.
